Abstract: The presence of a stationary object is to be reliably recognized. Thereto, a presence detection device for detecting a presence of an object in its environment is provided, which comprises a movement detection unit for detecting an initial movement of the object in the environment of the presence detection device and for outputting a movement signal depending on the detection as well as a control unit for generating an activation signal depending on the movement signal. Moreover, the presence detection device comprises a camera, which can be activated by the activation signal, for obtaining a video signal of the environment of the presence detection device and an evaluation unit for generating a presence signal relating to the presence of the object by evaluating the video signal.

Abstract: The illuminance acquisition device includes a setting unit, a human sensing unit, and an illuminance acquisition unit. The setting unit sets an illuminance acquisition area (as a first area) for use to acquire an illuminance in an image capturing area of an image capturing unit. The human sensing unit determines, based on an image captured by the image capturing unit, whether or not there is any human in a human sensing area (as a second area) of the image capturing area. The illuminance acquisition unit calculates, based on the image, a spatial illuminance in the first area.

Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling lighting fixtures independently with image sensors. In an embodiment, a luminaire includes a controller, an image sensor and wide-angle lens component, and a light source. The controller receives detection signal data from the image sensor and wide-angle lens component when a user is within a detection area associated with a view angle of the wide angle lens, and then determines the position of the user. The controller then controls the illuminance of the light source based on the position of the user. In particular, illuminance is increased as the user approaches a center portion of the detection area, and decreased as the user moves away from the center portion.

Abstract: A modular lighting system (100) comprising a plurality of interconnected generally planar units (15, 115, 215), each unit having at least one illumination element (31), and an electrical circuit for connection to an adjacent unit and comprising a respective sensor (16, 17) associated with each illumination element, the sensor being arranged to be actuated by the presence of an article over or adjacent to the respective illumination element, and the system being controlled such that when the presence of one or more articles is sensed, the illumination is enabled of one of the illumination elements. Abstract: A controller, method and program for controlling one or more sources of a utility to provide the utility into a space occupied by one or more users, e.g. for controlling light sources illuminating an indoor or outdoor space. An input from one or more sensors is processed to detect motions of a user in the space, to detect that the motions correspond to predetermined gestures performed by the user, and to detect a position from which each gesture was performed. Further, each of a plurality of discrete control policies is associated with a respective combination of predetermined gesture and positional demarcation within the space. Each control policy defines a respective response of the utility to the respective associated gesture. For gestures performed from each of a plurality of different positions, a different control policy is selected based on being associated with the detected gesture and detected position.

Abstract: A motion sensor light turns on a light once a motion sensor detects movement of a person. The light illuminates a monitoring area once the light is turned on. The motion sensor light initiates measurement of lighting duration of the light. After then, the motion sensor light initiates measurement of lights-out delay duration in a case where the movement of a person is no longer detected, and acquires a set value of the lights-out delay duration according to the lighting duration set in advance. The motion sensor light turns off the light in a case where a measured value of the lights-out delay duration exceeds the set value of the lights-out delay duration and a measured value of the lighting duration of the light exceeds a set value of the lighting duration.

Abstract: A microcontroller-based multifunctional electronic switch uses a detection circuit design to convert external motion signals into message carrying sensing signals readable to the microcontroller. Based on the time length of sensing signals and the format of the sensing signals received in a preset instant period of time the microcontroller through the operation of its software program codes written in the OTPROM is able to recognize the working modes chosen by the external signal generating user and thereby selecting the appropriate loops of subroutine for execution. The system and method of the present invention may simultaneously be applicable to detection circuit design using infrared ray sensor, electrostatic induction sensor, conduction based touch sensor or push button sensor for performing multifunction such as controlling the on/off switch, the illumination power and the color temperature within the capacity of a single lighting device or an electrical appliance.
