Abstract: An industrial electrical machine system includes an industrial electrical machine including a first housing and a first plug-in electrical connector disposed on the first housing; and an electronics module including a second housing; a converter disposed in the second housing and constructed to convert an input electrical power to an output electrical power; a second plug-in electrical connector electrically coupled to the converter and constructed to sealingly engage and electrically couple to the first plug-in electrical connector and electrically couple the converter to the industrial electrical machine and supply the output electrical power to the industrial electrical machine from the converter, wherein the industrial electrical machine is a motor, a generator or a motor/generator.

Abstract: A multi-layered conductor comprising one or more conductor layers of an electrically conductive material and one or more shielding layers of a soft magnetic material. The shielding layer can be coated onto the conductor layer and has a lower conductivity and a higher magnetic permeability than the electrically conductive material of conductor layers. The shielding layer can, at least when alternating current (AC) flows through the multi-layered conductor at relatively high frequencies, provide a separate power path for at least a portion of the high frequency AC current, as well as absorb at least a portion of the high frequency noises associated with that separated high frequency AC current. Additionally, the shielding layer can be separated from the conductor layer at an output end of the multi-layered conductor so that output ends of the shielding layer and conductor layer can be electrically connected to different electrical devices or components.

Abstract: A cable tie having a strain sensing device incorporated therein. In one embodiment, the strain sensing device is a fiber Bragg grating (FBG), which is preferably molded within the strap. In this case, the cable tie further includes a socket in optical communication with the fiber Bragg grating for coupling of the cable tie to an external light source. In another embodiment, the strain sensing device is a mechanical fuse that activates in the presence of a predetermined amount of strain on the cable tie. The mechanical fuse is preferably disposed on the strap and is made of a fuse material having a mechanical strength lower than a mechanical strength of the material of the strap so that the mechanical fuse will fracture or deform earlier than the material of the underlying strap when both the fuse and the strap experience the same increasing strain.
