An electrical circuit may be closed in response to an entire length of the transparent tube being exposed to light or only a portion of the transparent tube being exposed to the light.

Abstract: A theft detection system for a vehicle is provided. The theft detection system includes a hybrid wireless tire sensor (HWTS) coupled to an interior of a tire of the vehicle, a processor, and a memory. The memory has instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including detecting a change in voltage across the HWTS responsive to a change in deformation of the tire, and determining, based on the change in deformation of the tire, if a theft is occurring.

Abstract: Sensor modules mountable on a wheel are described with methods of use. A sensor module for a wheel includes a base module mountable to a rim. The sensor module further includes a first set of piezoelectric sensors coupled to the base module at a first side and a second set of piezoelectric sensors coupled to the base module at a second side. A method includes receiving a first force from a tire on a piezoelectric sensor mounted on a rim, the force resulting from an inflation of the tire and causing a first strain on the sensor. The method further includes receiving a second force on the sensor corresponding to a deformation of the tire due to surface contact, where the second force causes a second strain. The method also includes generating wheel data from electrical signals produced by the sensor; and transmitting the wheel data to a remote device.

Abstract: A brake wear sensing assembly for an air disc brake includes a progressive wear sensor, at least one lining wear sensor, a control device, a wire harness connected to the control device and an adapter for joining the progressive wear sensor and the lining wear sensor to the wire harness. The adapter connects a power line to the progressive wear sensor, a ground line to the progressive wear sensor and an input to the output of the at least one lining wear sensor. An output signal from the progressive wear sensor is connected to the input of the at least one lining wear sensor. The signal from the progressive wear sensor passes through the at least one lining wear sensor to the control device such that the progressive wear sensor and the at least one lining wear sensor are in series with each other.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a piezoresistive ink composition for sensors production. This ink, change linearly their electrical resistivity with an applied deformation and can easily recover when the external applied stress is released. The composition comprises flexible polymers as thermoplastic elastomers from the styrene-butadiene-styrene family (SBS, SEBS or others), nanostructures of carbon or metal, polar solvents and dispersive agents. With this ink, the user can print the sensor with any desired geometry and use different printing techniques, including drop casting, spray, screen and inkjet printing.

Abstract: A loading device, a monitoring system, and a method thereof can measure stiffness of a structural member (SM) and monitor progress or property thereof over time. The loading device includes two types of displacement sensors, one type being an antenna. As the SM, which is in a magnetic or electromagnetic field and electromagnetically coupled to the antenna without contact, undergoes displacement under known loads, characteristics of the electromagnetic field coupling between the antenna and the SM change over time due to the displacement of the SM. The shift in the characteristics of the electromagnetic field coupling between the antenna and the SM can be used to determine the displacement of the SM. Based on the changes in the displacement over time, diagnosis of the SM being monitored over an evaluation period can be made. The loading device includes at least one movable frame to apply a preload to the SM.
