    Abstract: Devices, methods, communication nodes, base stations, storage media, and other embodiments are provided for managing associations in a communication network. In one example embodiment, a New Radio (NR) node is configured for NR user-plane protocol communications between a master node (MN) and a secondary node (SN). The NRnode is configured to generate a downlink (DL) user data message with downlink user data, initiate transmission of the DL user data message to a second node, and process a DL data delivery status message from the second node in response to the DL user data message. In various embodiments, polling and SCG split-bearer configurations are supported by such messaging. In some embodiments, packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) serial numbers are communicated for transmission and retransmission management. In some embodiments, DL configurations initiated by an SN are enabled, as well as UL configurations initiated by either an MN or an SN.

    Abstract: Techniques to configure a user equipment (UE) for a multi-connectivity handover with a source base station (SBS) and a target base station (TBS) include encoding a measurement report for transmission to the SBS. The measurement report is triggered based on a measurement event configured by the SBS. Radio resource control (RRC) signaling from the SBS is decoded, the RRC signaling including a handover command in response to the measurement report. The handover command includes an indication for multi-connectivity support by the SBS and the TBS during the handover. A first protocol stack associated with the SBS and a second protocol stack associated with the TBS are configured at the UE. A packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) received at the UE during the handover is processed using the first protocol stack or the second protocol stack.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of setting up an E1 interface for a gNB are described, A transmitting entity of the gNB-CU-CP and gNB-CU-UP initiates the first TNL association between the gNB-CU-CP and gNB-CU-UP, and is also limited to initiating the E1 Setup procedure. The transmitting entity sends an E1 SETUP REQUEST message to set up the E1 interface. Afterwards, a message is received from the receiving entity. The transmitting entity determines that the setup of the E1 interface is successful if the message contains IEs of an E1 SETUP RESPONSE message. The types of IEs include a message type IE and a name of the transmitting entity.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a Next Generation Node B (gNB) are described herein. The gNB may be configured with logical nodes, including a gNB central unit (gNB-CU) and a gNB distributed unit (gNB-DU). The gNB-CU may include a gNB-CU control plane (gNB-CU-CP) for control-plane functionality, and a gNB-CU user plane (gNB-CU-UP) for user-plane functionality. The gNB may initiate an E1 interface setup procedure, a bearer context setup procedure, and a UE context setup procedure to establish a UE context that includes a signaling radio bearer (SRB) and a data radio bearer (DRB) configuration. The UE context setup request message may be configured to include quality-of-service parameters for the DRB configuration.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of providing feedback when a specific PDU is successfully delivered or transmitted are described. The node hosting PDCP entity indicates triggering of a DDDS frame from the remote corresponding node. Rather than immediately triggering transmission of a DDDS frame, the node hosting PDCP entity indicates triggering based on successful delivery of a PDU having a specific SN, as long as in-sequence delivery or transmission of PDUs up to the specific SN was successful. The DDDS frame is transmitted once the corresponding node determines that the PDU having the SN was successfully delivered or transmitted. After reporting by the DDDS frame, the QoS flow associated with the PDUs is remapped from a source DRB to a target DRB.
