Abstract: According to various embodiments, an electronic device may comprise: a communication circuit and at least one processor operatively connected with the communication circuit, and the at least one processor may be configured to: determine a network role of an external electronic device, transmit, to the external electronic device via the communication circuit, an authentication request message including network role information indicating the network role, receive, from the external electronic device via the communication circuit, an authentication response message to the authentication request message, receive, from the external electronic device via the communication circuit, a configuration request message including network role information of the external electronic device and requesting network configuration information, generate network configuration information to be transmitted to the external electronic device corresponding to the network role information, and transmit, to the external electronic device via the communication circuit, a configuration response message including the generated network configuration information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a request for an on-demand secret key to a network entity, such as if a secret key for a sidelink channel has expired before a refresh timer of the secret key expires. The UE may transmit a request for an update to a secret key associated with a first physical layer channel secured for sidelink communications based on the secret key being expired. The request may include an identifier of the first physical layer channel associated with the secret key. The UE may receive the update to the secret key based transmitting the request. In some cases, the UE may transmit an indication of the update to the secret key to a second UE.

Abstract: A first host device in a first network of a plurality of networks may receive, from an intermediate client device, a request to enroll the intermediate client device into the first network, including receiving a candidate inter-network encryption key. The first host device may determine whether any other intermediate client device is already enrolled in the first network. The first host device may, in response to determining that no other intermediate client device is already enrolled in the first network, set the candidate inter-network encryption key as an inter-network encryption key of the first host device for encrypting communications between the plurality of networks. The first host device may send, to the intermediate client device for forwarding to a second host device in a second network of the plurality of networks, an encrypted message that is encrypted using the inter-network encryption key of first host device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software can be used to improve security of an authentication process in a cargo shipping system. In some aspect, an authentication request message is received at a sensor from a cargo tracking device. The authentication request message includes a key that the sensor will use to decrypt its encrypted public key/private key pair. In response to the authentication request message, the sensor sends an authentication response message to the cargo tracking device that is encrypted using a derived symmetric key. The cargo tracking device sends an authentication confirmation message to the sensor in response to the authentication response message.

Abstract: Protecting an encryption key for data stored in a storage system that includes a plurality of storage devices, including: reading, from at least a majority of the storage devices, a portion of an apartment key; reconstructing the apartment key using the portions of the apartment key read by the majority of the storage devices; unlocking the main portion of each of the storage devices utilizing the apartment key; reading, from the main portion of one of the storage devices, a portion of a third-party resource access key; requesting, from the third-party resource utilizing the third-party resource access key, an encryption key; receiving, from the third-party resource, the encryption key; and decrypting the data stored on the storage devices utilizing the encryption key.
