    Abstract: A two-stage enhanced downlink control channel (DCI) is provided. In one example, a method comprises performing processing to attempt to decode a second stage of DCI without blind decoding and based on resource allocation information (RAI), wherein the decoding the first stage of DCI comprises blind decoding and wherein the second stage of DCI and uplink control information is received after the first stage of DCI. The method also comprises based on successfully decoding the second stage of DCI, decoding a physical data shared channel (PDSCH). In various embodiments in which semi-persistent scheduling is provided, decoding information previously received in a prior transmission time interval can be employed in a current or subsequent TTI to conserve bandwidth and power.

    Abstract: An improved technique for encoding and decoding of data for group common control channels is provided herein. Generally, the embodiments disclosed herein involve masking the information bits of the group common PDCCH (or group common control channel information) with the common RNTI, without using parity bits, which reduces the power requirements of the transmitter and receiver. In a first embodiment, the information block and the common RNTI can each be encoded using separate encoders, and then the encoded information block can be masked with the encoded common RNTI, and the resulting code symbol can be transmitted to the group of mobile devices. In a second embodiment, an information block can be appended with bits to match a size of the common RNTI, and then be masked by the common RNTI.

    Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a beam reporting and identification system that can use two different types of signals as reference signals when reporting on beam strengths. The user equipment device can send a unified report that reports on each of the different types of reference signals using a unified beam index. In an embodiment, the first type of reference signal can be a user equipment (UE) specific reference signal, such as a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), while the second type of signal used as a reference signal can be a synchronization signal (SS), received as an SS block. The unified index, where SS blocks are grouped into a number of groups, allows for the same number of bits to report on both synchronization signals and CSI-RS signals in the same report.

    Abstract: Determining when beam failure of a beam pair link has occurred is provided. Transient obstructions, and other interference effects can cause the failure of a beam pair link which can comprise a transmit beam and a receive beam associated with respective antennas on a transmitter and receiver. Switching to another beam pair link can cause decrease throughput and efficiency however, so the improved mechanism for determining a failure includes taking into consideration the importance of the beam pair link before initiating the beam recovery process. The configurable beam failure protocol defined herein considers the relative importance of the configured beam pair links when declaring the beam pair link a failure. The importance of the beam pair link can be based on the amount of downlink control information in the transmission.

    Abstract: A system facilitating compact signaling design for reserved resource configuration via a multi-dimensional bitmap is provided for a wireless communication system. A method comprises: determining a multi-dimensional bitmap (MDB) in time and frequency domains, wherein the time domain is represented by an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbol and the frequency domain is represented by an OFDM subcarrier. The determining comprises: selecting a group of reserved resource allocations of the MDB in which data information is not to be communicated; assigning a first value for the OFDM multiplexed symbol and the OFDM subcarrier according to a location of elements of the group of reserved resource allocations; and assigning, to other portions of the MDB other than the group of reserved resource allocations, a second value distinct from the first value. The method also comprises facilitating, by the device, transmitting the MDB to a mobile device.

    Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method that includes receiving, by a processing system, an uplink signal at a radio unit (RU) communicating over a fronthaul interface with a distributed unit (DU) of a communication network; receiving a demodulated reference signal (DMRS) configuration at the RU; performing a beamforming procedure at the RU for one or more beams generated at the RU; and determining, in accordance with an option selected by the DU, whether to perform an equalization procedure for the uplink signal at the RU resulting in equalized user data. In accordance with the equalization procedure being performed at the RU, equalization for the uplink signal is not performed at the DU. Other embodiments are disclosed.
