摘要： A method and apparatus for searching for and reporting Public Land Mobile Networks “PLMNs” in a mobile telecommunications system, the method comprising, at a mobile device: initiating a scan to find Public Land Mobile Networks; when a cell of a PLMN is detected on a frequency, then reading system information to determine one or more PLMN identities of the detected cell; determining whether the detected cell operates in a frequency band supported by the mobile device; when it is determined that the detected cell does not operate in a band supported by the device, omitting adding the associated one or more PLMN identities from a first of PLMNs, and otherwise adding the one or more PLMN identities to the list of PLMNs; and reporting the list of PLMNs.

摘要： The details of an apparatus and method for determining uplink ciphering activation time in universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. The ciphering activation time is determined for radio bearers other than RB2 by measuring the data rate on each target radio bearer during the time that it takes for a polling or RRC message sent from the user equipment UE to be acknowledged by the network UTRAN. For RB2, the uplink ciphering activation time is determined by taking into account the size of the RRC response message and the data already queued on RB2 for transmission.

摘要： The present invention concerns a method of processing traffic data in Layer 2 of a wireless communications system, whereby the MAC layer is arranged, after receipt of a traffic data volume report from the RLC layer, to process said data volume report and to then issue an acknowledgement message to the RLC layer. The method ensures that the RLC and MAC layers are synchronized with respect to traffic data processing. The MAC layer may be arranged to issue an acknowledgement to the RLC layer only where it determines from processing a data volume report that the RLC layer is not permitted to transmit data in a next or subsequent corresponding TTI. The present invention also concerns a process for data discard in a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer of a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) wireless communications system such as a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). The process involves, responsive to thetriggering of a data discard operation, determining whether the RLC layer is permitted to transmit data. Where it is determined that the RLC layer is not permitted to transmit data in a next or subsequent TTI, the method includes the step of informing the RLC layer that data is not required.
