Abstract: Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example system for delivering an implantable medical device includes an outer shaft and an inner catheter, each having a proximal end, a distal portion and a lumen extending therein, wherein the inner catheter extends within a portion of the outer shaft lumen. The system also includes an actuation shaft extending within a portion of the inner catheter lumen, wherein a distal end of the actuation shaft is coupled to the implantable medical device. The system also includes a guidewire shaft extending within a portion of the inner catheter lumen and a coupling component including a distal end region, a proximal end region and a length, wherein the actuation shaft and the guidewire shaft are coupled to the coupling component such that actuation of the coupling component translates the actuation shaft and the tubular guidewire shaft simultaneously.

Abstract: An example system for delivering an implantable heart valve is disclosed. The system includes an inner shaft having a proximal end region, a distal end region and a first coupling member disposed along a portion of the distal end region, wherein the first coupling member includes a first aperture. The system also includes a support shaft having a proximal end region, a distal end region and a second coupling member disposed along a portion of the proximal end region, wherein the second coupling member includes a stem, wherein the stem includes a groove extending circumferentially around the stem. The system also includes a locking clip coupled to the inner shaft, wherein coupling the inner shaft to the support shaft includes extending at least a portion of the locking clip through the first aperture and into at least a portion of the groove.

Abstract: A delivery system for an implantable medical device includes an outer shaft and an inner shaft translatable within the outer shaft. An internally exposed coil is disposed within the inner shaft and is electrically coupled to an externally exposed coil that can be used to inductively transmit a current flowing through the internally exposed coil. An actuation member extends within the inner shaft and includes a coupler, a force translation rod that extends proximally from the coupler and a plurality of push pull rods that extend distally from the coupler and that releasably couple to the implantable medical device. As the force translation rod moves relative to the internally exposed coil, an impedance varies in accordance with relative position.

An example system for delivering an implantable medical device includes a handle member including a seal assembly, wherein the seal assembly includes an outer sheath seal assembly coupled to an outer sheath, the outer sheath including a curved portion, the outer sheath seal assembly being translatable relative to the handle. The seal assembly also includes a first fixed seal assembly fixed relative to the handle, the first fixed seal assembly including a first alignment surface and a compression shaft coupled to the first fixed seal assembly. Additionally, first alignment surface is designed to align the compression shaft with at least a portion of the outer sheath.

The ultrasound assembly includes a first optical fiber coupled to an optical-to-ultrasound transducer and a second optical fiber coupled to an ultrasound-to-optical transducer. The optical-to-ultrasound transducer is configured to generate an ultrasound signal in response to a pulsed optical signal. The ultrasound-to-optical transducer is configured to generate an optical signal in response to a received ultrasound signal.

The system also includes a heart valve implant support framework having a proximal end region and a first engagement projection coupled thereto and a locking collar disposed along the exoskeleton. Additionally, attaching the exoskeleton to the heart valve implant support framework includes placing the first engagement projection into the first engagement recess and positioning the locking collar along a portion of both the first engagement member and the first engagement projection.

Some embodiments are particularly directed to a feedback loop for positioning or guiding a flexible elongate member into a target configuration for one or more of inspection, orientation, and/or facilitating access to body passageways. In one embodiment, for example, a device manager may include circuitry to operate at least one positional control in a set of positional controls based on data indicative of a current configuration of a flexible elongate member generated by a set of transducers.

The method may also include inflating the balloon to a first pressure, delivering a plurality of electromagnetic pulses to the iron-containing fluid, and inflating the balloon to a second pressure greater than the first pressure.
