摘要: In a method for providing musical accompaniment in response to the playing of a musical instrument, wherein the accompaniment has a plurality of musical components performing different musical functions, a preselected number of virtual channels implementing the musical components of the accompaniment are mapped into a smaller number of physical channels such that the allocation of physical channels between the musical components fluctuates over time. In another embodiment, one of the musical components of the accompaniment is a fill note component, and the allocation of physical channels between it and at least one other component of the accompaniment may be either static or dynamic.

摘要: A method and associated apparatus for embellishing the melody played on an electronic musical keyboard instrument. A set of musically-derived tables relates harmonious accompaniment notes to the melody in accordance with the chosen harmony and is addressed to generate a signal that represents at least one appropriate accompaniment note. The latter signal causes sounding of selected accompaniment notes to produce the desired musical harmony. A choice of voicing style and an orchestration option are additionally provided within the scope of the apparatus and method herein.

摘要: An electronic musical instrument by which a performer can provide a musical accompaniment in different musical styles. The performer selects a desired musical style and plays on a standard keyboard in order to express a desired harmony. The instrument translates the keyboard playing into a chord type and root that defines the harmony expressed by the performer. A processor generates parameter signals defining a segment of music including a plurality of accompaniment notes arranged in the selected musical style and related harmonically to the selected chord type and root. Output circuitry converts the parameter signals to sound so that a performer of limited skill or musical knowledge can play an appropriately-styled accompaniment to a melody written in any one of a variety of musical keys.

摘要: A method for enabling different priority messages in a contention-based wireless network where units use a common channel. Relative to high priority messages, if the channel is not busy when a message is ready for transmission, then the message is transmitted immediately. When the channel is busy, the message is not transmitted until the channel becomes available and a selected back-off period (while the channel is available) expires. Back off periods are illustratively randomly selected by the units. Low priority messages are similarly not transmitted when the channel is busy, and additionally are not transmitted for a preselected pre-emption interval when the channel is available to high priority messages but not to low priority messages. Like with high priority messages, low priority messages that not transmitted when ready are held back a back-off period before they are transmitted.

摘要: Information is acquired from a geographically-distributed sensor network using a scalable wireless geocast protocol. Geographically distributed networks of unattended sensors are placed at desired locations to collect various types of information, such as, for example, environmental parameters, temperature, humidity, rainfall, heat signatures, video, audio, seismic activity, and/or wind conditions. To acquire information, a query is provided to the geographic area at which the sensors are located utilizing the geocast protocol. Delivery of the query is based on a physical location of a region in which a sensor network is located, the type of information being queried, and/or temporal conditions. Each sensor that receives a query determines if all requirements/conditions are satisfied. If so, the query is accepted and processed by the recipient sensor, and responded to accordingly. Responses to queries are provided via the geocast protocol.

摘要: Geocast-based situation awareness utilizing a scalable, distributed ad hoc geocast protocol as a communication primitive, may provide a field common operating picture (FCOP) for providing location tracking, movement history, telemetry, and messaging in near real time to all operators in a scenario. Information may be transferred using a query/response geocast message protocol. Caching on devices may be utilized to gain scalability. A query message may have a payload containing a type indication and a header containing a description of a geocast region of intended reception, which may comprise the monitored region, the location of the monitorer, or any appropriate combination thereof. Response messages may be sent from devices located in the monitored region to an area containing the location of the sender of a query. A response message may contain monitored information, such as current location, telemetry data, and/or recent movement history, or the like.

摘要: A method is disclosed for initiating real-time geo-game using geocast messaging according to a scalable tiered geocast protocol. The method includes a first wireless terminal (WT), programmed with a geo-gaming application and the scalable tiered geocast protocol, geocasting a game declaration to a destination geocast region containing potential participants. The method also includes a second WT, of one of the potential participants, and programmed with the geo-gaming application and the scalable tiered geocast protocol, receiving the game declaration in the destination geocast region and responding by geocasting a response message indicating interest in participating in the real-time geo-game.

摘要: The invention comprises a system and method for hedging or mitigating mortality exposure risk in a portfolio of mortality-dependent instruments. A mortality risk or longevity risk of the portfolio is calculated or otherwise determined. Then the sensitivity of the portfolio to mortality risk or longevity risk is calculated or otherwise determined, in other words, how much is cost or value of the portfolio affected by a change in mortality rate. To account for that mortality exposure, a selection is made of building block mortality derivatives that include age-based mortality derivatives. The selected plurality of building block mortality derivatives are used to create a hedge against the mortality risk or longevity risk of the portfolio.

摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for the monitoring of active threads in a network service, such as a content transformation service. A network element periodically samples active threads that are indicative of an active session of a service being provided to a subscriber. Identifiers associated with the active threads are collected and stored in, for example, a network log along with related information, such as the subscriber identifying information associated with the thread and/or the amount of network resources utilized by the thread. The collected information is then made available or displayed for use in, or example, controlling the usage of a network service or billing for services based accurately on the amount of network resources consumed by a subscriber.
