Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes matrix-based intra prediction methods for video coding, are described. In a representative aspect, a method for video processing includes performing a conversion between a current video block of a video and a bitstream representation of the current video block using a matrix based intra prediction (MIP) mode in which a prediction block of the current video block is determined by performing, on previously coded samples of the video, a boundary downsampling operation, followed by a matrix vector multiplication operation, and selectively followed by an upsampling operation, where the performing the conversion includes deriving, according to a rule, boundary samples by applying a left bit shift operation or a right bit shift operation on a sum of at least one reference boundary sample, and where the rule determines whether to apply the left bit shift or the right bit shift operation.

Abstract: The application relates to an intra block copy mode with dual tree partition. A method of video processing is disclosed. The method of video processing includes: determining, during a conversion between a current video block and a bitstream representation of the current video block, a block vector for the current video block; and performing, at least based on the block vector, the conversion, wherein when the current video block is coded with a coding mode using a reference block for prediction pointing to a same picture that the current video block is located in, and the current video block is a first type of block, the block vector is derived from at least one second type of block.

Abstract: A mechanism for processing video data is disclosed. Video decoder initialization information is signaled between an encoder to a decoder. The video decoder initialization information contains a range of initialization parameters for a plurality of video units when the plurality of video units are coded according to a same video codec and a same profile. A conversion is performed between a visual media data and a visual media data file based on the range of initialization parameters.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for coefficient coding in transform skip mode are described. An exemplary method for visual media processing includes: for encoding a current video block in a video region of a visual media data into a bitstream representation of the visual media data, identifying usage of a coding mode and/or an intra prediction mode and/or a set of allowable intra prediction modes; and upon identifying the usage, making a decision of whether to include or exclude, in the bitstream representation, a syntax element indicative of selectively applying a transform skip mode to the current video block, wherein, in the transform skip mode, a residual of a prediction error between the current video block and a reference video block is represented in the bitstream representation of the visual media data without applying a transformation.

Abstract: A method of processing video data is described. The method includes performing a conversion between a current video block of a video and a bitstream of the video. A geometric partitioning mode index for the current video block is coded in the bitstream and a binarization of the geometric partitioning mode index is performed according to a rule. The geometric partitioning mode index specifies a geometric splitting shape of a geometric partitioning mode applied to the current video block. The rule specifies that the geometric partitioning mode index is coded with a fixed-length binarization.
