Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing data services to devices at a customer premises. An exemplary method embodiment includes the steps of: switching from a first mode of operation to a second mode of operation with respect to providing data services to a user equipment device located at a customer premises upon detection of a first condition at the customer premises by a wireless base station; receiving, after switching into the second mode of operation, at the wireless base station a first data service request from the user equipment device; transmitting, in response to the first data service request, one or more data packets of a first data packet stream to the user equipment device via a first transmission path and transmitting one or more additional data packets of the first packet stream to the user equipment device via a second transmission path.

Abstract: A wireless network environment includes a wireless station, a wireless access point, and communication management resource. The communication management resource establishes first wireless connectivity between the first wireless station and the second wireless station. The second wireless station is in communication with the wireless access point, which provides second wireless connectivity to multiple communication devices in a wireless network environment. The communication management resource measures link quality provided by the first wireless connectivity. Depending on the measured link quality provided by the first wireless connectivity, the communication management resource controls conveyance of communications over the second wireless connectivity.

Abstract: A base station, e.g., a CBSD, selects or more user equipment (UE) devices, e.g., cell phones, to operate in monitoring mode. In monitoring mode the UE device, in addition to its normal communications with the base station, performs received power measurements in a frequency band, e.g., a CBRS band. The UE reports to the base station information indicating a UE determined measured power level attributed to incumbent user or measurement information used to derive a power level attributed to incumbent user. One or more base stations report received power measurement values attributed to incumbent user to a system management device, e.g., a SAS. The system management device processes the received information, e.g. combining information, and comparing a result to a threshold level. If the result exceeds the threshold the system management device sends a command to one or more base station to shut down DL traffic in the CBRS band.

Abstract: A first dual SIM user equipment (UE) has a first wireless connection to first Citizens Broadband radio Services Devices (CBSD) of a first network and a second wireless connection to a second CBSD of a second network. Different encryption and different frequency hopping patterns are used with regard to communicating the same voice packet information over the first and second wireless connections. The same voice information is attempted to be redundantly communicated over the two connections, e.g. concurrently or with a slight delay with regard to the two connections. The CBRS communications are typically less reliable than cellular licensed spectrum communications, and a particular encrypted voice packet may, and sometimes is lost; however, the redundancy is used to compensate for expected losses. Successfully recovered encrypted voice packets are sent from the CBSDs to a packet synchronizer which performs decryption and combines the recovered packets into a single packet stream.

Abstract: According to one configuration, a communication management resource in a wireless network environment records a location of a wireless base station. The communication management resource then defines a region of wireless coverage provided by the wireless base station based on feedback received from the wireless base station. For example, in one arrangement, the user equipment provides performance metrics to the wireless base station. The wireless base station uses the performance metrics to determine boundaries associated with a region of wireless coverage provided by the wireless base station. The wireless base station communicates the boundary information to the communication management resource. Subsequent to identifying the location of the wireless base station and defining the determined region of wireless coverage associated with the wireless base station, the communication management resource then controls allocation of wireless bandwidth in a vicinity of the region of wireless coverage to protect the wireless base station from interference.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for managing the power transmit level of Citizens Broadband Radio Service Devices (CBSDs) in a Citizens Broadband Radio Service Network. In an exemplary method embodiment a CBSD is operated to: (i) receive from a Spectrum Access System one or more of: (a) a power headroom threshold value used to identify cell edge user equipment devices (UEs) or (b) a channel quality indicator threshold value used to identify cell edge user equipment devices; receive a power down command from the SAS; (ii) identify based on one or more of the received power headroom threshold value and the received channel quality indicator threshold value cell edge UEs being serviced by the CBSD; and (iii) decrease transmit power of the CBSD by an estimated amount of transmit power required to support the identified cell edge UEs.

Abstract: A communication system includes a control wireless station. One or more data payload-conveying wireless stations rely on the control wireless station to provide control information to a mobile communication device to control conveyance of data over one or more data channels to the mobile communication device. For example, to connect to a remote network, a mobile communication device establishes a first wireless communication link with the control wireless station. The mobile communication device establishes a second wireless communication link with a data conveying wireless station. The first wireless link conveys control information from the control wireless station to the mobile communication device. The second wireless link conveys data payload information. The control information conveyed over the first wireless link controls conveyance of the data payload information over the second wireless communication link.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing enhanced coverage in a quasi-licensed wireless system using a reduced-cost base station apparatus. In one embodiment, the base station is configured to utilize quasi-licensed 3.55-3.70 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) GAA and PAL spectrum, and employs a power amplifier sharing arrangement in its transmitter chain(s), along with multi-sector antenna elements. A scheduling algorithm operative on the base station generates sector-specific weights which are used to allocate the shared power amplifier(s) between the different sectors. Advantageously, design and production costs of the base station are reduced through sharing of comparatively expensive amplifier and transmitter chain components, thereby allowing for commoditization of the base station for mass distribution.
