Abstract:
A loadbreak connector system and methods for visible break include first and second mating connector assemblies configured to make or break an electrical connection under energized circuit conditions, the first and second mating connectors selectively postionable relative to one another. One of the first and second mating connectors includes an arc follower, and the other of the first and second mating connectors includes an arc interrupter. The arc interrupter is configured to receive the arc follower, and the first and second meting connectors are positionable in an disconnected position wherein the arc follower remains engaged to and is located within the arc interrupter. Arc energy is distributed among multiple locations to reduce arc intensity.
Abstract:
A system that multiplexes a plurality of wireless devices with a wireless network, each of the wireless devices sharing a common telephone number. The system assigns a predefined access time for each of said wireless devices. The system also assigns a predefined length of time during which each of said wireless devices will have access to said wireless network. A sequence of accesses to the wireless network can then be initiated in accordance with the predefined access time and the predefined length of time such that a maximum of one of the wireless devices accesses said local network at a time.
Abstract:
A hydraulic nut for tensioning an assembly comprises a mechanical threaded locking collar to minimize load loss during transfer of hydraulic load to the locking collar, an annular piston, an annular pressure area to generate an axial load under hydraulic pressure, a hydraulic pressure port and preferably metallic seals to maintain the hydraulic pressure within the annular pressure area that operates in an elastic region and continues to actuate hydraulic pressure after repeated operating temperature cycles. The seals of the hydraulic nut have a ‘U’ or ‘C’ shaped cross-section.
Abstract:
A device includes a first conductive member configured to be electrically coupled to a first component and a second conductive member configured to be electrically coupled to a second component. The second conductive member is separated from the first conductive member by a gap. A conductive connecting member is moveable to make an electrical connection between the first and second conductive members across the gap. A housing receives the first conductive member, the second conductive member, and the connecting member. The housing includes an insulating layer and a conductive layer. The movement of the connecting member to make the electrical connection is visible through at least a portion of the insulating layer and the conductive layer.

A hydraulic nut for tensioning an assembly includes a mechanical threaded locking collar to minimize load loss during transfer of hydraulic load to the locking collar, a Z shaped annual piston to minimize height of the hydraulic nut, an annular pressure area to generate an axial load under hydraulic pressure, a hydraulic pressure port and metallic seals to maintain the hydraulic pressure within the annular pressure area that operates in an elastic region and continues to actuate hydraulic pressure after repeated operating temperature cycles.
Abstract:
A handset user defines a ring tone for a wireless communications handset. The user outputs a master recording and designates ring tone start and stop times. A ring tone file is defined between the start and stop designations, and the defined ring tone file is stored for selection by the user.
Abstract:
Communicating voice over a packet-switching network is implemented on a telecommunications network that includes the packet-switching network, two coding units coupled to the packet-switching network and to an originating node and a terminating node, respectively, and at least one signaling apparatus. The first of the two coding units is configured to extract signaling data associated with the voice call and transmit the signaling data and its network address to the signaling apparatus. Signaling data for establishing the voice call is received by the signaling apparatus, and a network address of the coding unit in the packet-switching network is obtained. The second coding unit is controlled to establish a bearer channel with the first coding unit for carrying the voice data through the packet-switching network, based on the network address.
Abstract:
A software development tool utilizes an intermediate object modeling language. The structure of the desired program is first described graphically by generating rule diagrams, state diagrams, and object diagrams such as user interface diagrams, event diagrams and other object diagrams. The development tool employs the diagrams to generate a working model of the program expressed in the object modeling language. The working model of the program can be executed without lengthy compiling, and hence program behavior can be quickly observed and tested. Further, the behavior of the working model can be quickly and easily changed by modifying the diagrams until the desired result is achieved. Source code is then generated from the object modeling language and compiled to create the final program.
Abstract:
A computerized system and method for managing work in process is provided. An initial transaction records case specific information. The case specific information is automatically linked with a work source index which includes basic client information. An electronic file is created for each case arising out of the initial transaction record. As work is performed on the case, the system tracks its progress and providces a variety of support functions. An electronic activity log function maintains a record of key activities involved in the processing of work items. An electronic diary function provides a means for prioritizing work and for scheduling various tasks. A staff table function provides a facility for storing information relevant to office personnel. Most of the system functions are integrated with the staff table function which provides a number of security and function parameters. A text processing function is provided which integrates stored database information into preformatted and customized documents. A "local data" function provides a facility for customization of data recordation and output at the local level. Various other systems functions provide the ability to modify, update, search and record additional case information.
Abstract:
A verticality sensor comprises a casing within which is mounted a rotary pick-off device having a body attached to the casing and mounted on a shaft for relative rotational movement with respect thereto, such movement producing an output signal from the pick-off representative of the angular rotation of the casing with respect to the vertical, pendulum means mounted on the pick-off shaft for relative rotational movement with respect thereto, and inertia means fixed to the pick-off shaft and coupled to the pendulum means through a fluid, with which the casing is filled, and through spring means. The arrangement is such that when the pendulum is subjected to lateral accelerations and undergoes rotational movement relative to the pick-off, the spring means is torsioned and thereby attempts to transmit that rotational movement to the inertia member which the latter resists, whereby the effect of lateral acceleration is reduced.
