摘要: A storage system includes a first buffer configured to store a first repeatable runout profile (RRP) for a sector of a rotating storage medium. A second buffer is configured to store a second RRP for the sector. A controller: controls a servo of the rotating storage medium based on the first RRP during a first revolution of the rotating storage medium; and learns the second RRP (i) while operating in a track-following mode, and (ii) during the first revolution. The controller ceases learning of the second RRP when one of (i) the controller is operating in a seek mode and (ii) the rotating storage medium is in an off-track state. Subsequent to the first revolution of the rotating storage medium and based on whether the learning of the second RRP was stopped during the first revolution, the controller replaces the first RRP with the second RRP in the first buffer.

摘要: A method and apparatus for scan conversion and interpolation of linear array steering imaging in an ultrasonic system are disclosed. The method computes the points that are most related to the point to be interpolated in the principal direction of the point spread function and performs interpolation in the principal direction of the point spread function according to the steering angle of the scan lines so as to obtain a more accurate interpolation result.

摘要: A method and apparatus is described for reducing RRO in storage systems. A disc may be partitioned into a number of equally spaced sectors. An RRO profile may be individually obtained for each sector, a runout control algorithm may be applied to each sector to generate an RROC waveform for the sector to suppress the RRO, and sector RROC waveforms may be assembled into an RROC waveform for a whole revolution and saved in a memory buffer for feed-forward control. The RROC is performed in the time domain, and it may be adapted for each sector to reject the RRO disturbance.

摘要: Transfecting biology cells with nucleic acid molecules (DNA, siRNA) is an essential prerequisite in elucidating how genes function in complex cellular context and how their activities could be modulated for therapeutic intervention. Traditionally studies are carried out on a low throughput gene-by-gene scale, which has created a huge bottleneck in functional genomic study and drug discovery. Development of high-throughput cell transfection technology will permit functional analysis of massive number of genes and how their activities could be modulated by chemical or biological entities inside cells. This invention describes design, construction of device and apparatus for high throughput effective cell transfection. Procedures and protocols for using the device and apparatus are also described in the application. Novel methods of using the device in cell-based assays are also disclosed.

摘要: An apparatus and method for coding block boundary detection using interpolated autocorrelation is disclosed. Input video frames are processed to obtain a binary map of possible block boundary pixels including original and rescaled block boundaries. The boundary pixel map is converted to a boundary histogram. Then interpolated autocorrelation is applied to the boundary histogram to detect the block size and block size offset. The interpolated autocorrelation handles both integer sizes and non-integer sizes. A confidence measure is also determined that reflects the accuracy of the detection result. The output for the current video frame is also post processed with information from previous frames to provide better temporal stability.

摘要: A method for updating web pages on a web server without republishing the web pages involves providing on a production database server a live version of one or more business data tables containing information used to populate web pages on a production web server and storing in a quality assurance database server a quality assurance version of the business data tables that can be used to populate pages on a quality assurance web server. A maker at a business workstation can access the quality assurance database server from time to time and enter a change to data on the quality assurance version of the business data tables. Thereafter a checker at the business workstation accesses the quality assurance database server to review and approve or reject the changes to the data on the quality assurance version of the business data tables, and if the checker approves the changes, the changes to the data on the quality assurance version of the business data tables are replicated from the quality assurance database server to the live version of the business data tables on the production database server.
