Abstract:
An inference rule determining process according to the present invention sequentially determines, using a learning function of a neural network model, a membership function representing a degree which the conditions of the IF part of each inference rule is satisfied when input data is received to thereby obtain an optimal inference result without using experience rules. The inventive inference device uses an inference rule of the type "IF . . . THEN . . . " and includes a membership value determiner (1) which includes all of IF part and has a neural network; individual inference quantity determiners (21)-(2r) which correspond to the respective THEN parts of the inference rules and determine the corresponding inference quantities for the inference rules; and a final inference quantity determiner which determines these inference quantities synthetically to obtain the final results of the inference. If the individual inference quantity determiners (2) each has a neural network structure, the non-linearity of the neural network models is used to obtain the result of the inference with high inference accuracy even if an object to be inferred is non-linear.

Abstract:
A charging device which enables the charged state and remaining capacity of the battery pack to be accurately grasped. In the charging device on which a battery pack including a nonvolatile memory and a secondary battery cell is mounted, a charge control microcomputer measures a charging current supplied to and a charging voltage applied to the battery pack. Charged state data indicative of the charged state of the battery pack is determined based on at least one of the measured charging current and the measured charging voltage. The charge control microcomputer writes the determined charged state data in the memory of the battery pack.

Abstract:
A printing apparatus and ink discharge failure detection method capable of precisely detecting temperature information corresponding to each nozzle are provided. Temperatures of respective electrothermal transducers (heaters) are measured on the basis of outputs from a plurality of sensors corresponding to the respective heaters. The temperatures of the heaters at a predetermined timing during a printing operation are predicted on the basis of the temperature change profiles of the respective heaters that are generated by energizing the heaters. A plurality of thresholds corresponding to nozzle states are generated on the basis of the predicted temperatures and the driving conditions of an inkjet printhead, and it is controlled to execute temperature measurement at the predetermined timing. A temperature measured under the control is compared with the respective generated thresholds, and the nozzle state is identified on the basis of the comparison results.
Abstract:
A recording head is provided that detects temperature information corresponding to a plurality of electro-thermal transducers. The recording head includes a driving circuit that performs driving by dividing a plurality of heaters into a plurality of blocks and supplies electric current on a block-by-block basis based on recording data. A constant current source applies a common bias current to each temperature sensor group obtained by dividing temperature sensors disposed in correspondence to each heater of a plurality of heaters into blocks. A voltage output circuit is further included having a switching element turns an electric current supply to the temperature sensors of the selected temperature sensor group ON and OFF, and of which obtains a voltage generated at both terminals of the selected temperature sensor by supplying an electric current to the temperature sensor; and an amplifier circuit amplifying the detection voltages.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus which is capable of detecting the direction and amount of an image shift in the main scanning direction without wasting toner, to thereby provide a higher-quality image with reduced running costs. A conductor is disposed such that the conductor partially overlaps an electrostatic latent image line formed on a photosensitive drum in a manner extending in a main scanning direction of the photosensitive drum, while moving relative to the electrostatic latent image line. The conductor generates induced current by the relative motion. An image shift in the main scanning direction is detected based on a result of measurement of the induced current generated by the conductor.
