A method and system for data transmission unit retransmission between a data receiver and a data transmitter. A data receiver determines that there is a missing data transmission unit based on a non-acknowledgement mechanism. The data receiver transmits identification information of correctly received data transmission units which are in the same link as the missing data transmission unit to a data transmitter. The data transmitter determines a data transmission unit which needs data retransmission according to the identification information it has received, and retransmits the data transmission unit. The method simplifies the detection procedure in which the data receiver detects a missing data transmission unit, simplifies the message content transmitted between the data receiver and the data transmitter, and decreases the length of control message, thereby increasing the response speed of the data receiver to the missing data transmission unit, the retransmission efficiency of the data transmission unit, and payload transmission efficiency in a multilink system.

A versatile system for controlling and managing resources for Soft Handoff Group operations is disclosed. The system determines which of a plurality of sectors in an access network is a serving sector for an access terminal. An active set of the plurality of sectors is assigned to the access terminal, comprising the serving sector. A soft handoff set for the access terminal is identified from the active set. A soft handoff group for the access terminal is identified from the soft handoff set. The access terminal's transmissions within the access network are managed according to the identified soft handoff group.

The invention discloses a method that implements synchronization for a WCDMA system. The method introduces a globe synchronization time to the WCDMA system as a reference time for signal transmitting of all NodeBs; when searching adjacent cells or making handover, each UE takes this reference time as a reference time; in this way, the UE design complexity is reduced, the UE available time is increased, the handover signaling is simplified and the handover success and reliability are increased too. Therefore, the method increases system capacity and makes service quality better.
