摘要: In a cellular communication system, a UE device being served by a serving communication station is instructed to transmit an uplink signal in accordance with an uplink signal configuration. The uplink signal configuration information is sent to a non-serving communication station in an inactive state where the non-serving communication station cannot provide wireless service. The uplink signal configuration information allows the non-serving communication station to configure its receiver to receive the up-link signal from the UE. Based, at least in part, on information pertaining to the uplink signal received by the non-serving communication station and then sent to the serving communication station, the serving communication station determines whether the UE device is sufficiently near to the non-serving communication station to receive wireless service from the non-serving communication station, in which case the non-serving communication station is activated.

摘要: In a cellular communication system, a coverage area configuration transition is performed where a compensation service area is expanded to cover at least a portion of an energy saving service area of an energy saving cell employing the same frequency channel as the compensation service area. An energy saving communication station providing the energy saving cell is configured to deactivate the energy saving service area. Handovers to the compensation service area are prepared for the UE devices in the energy saving service area. The energy saving communication station sends a expansion notification to a compensation communication station where the notification at teas!indicates that the compensation service area can be expanded. The energy saving communication station transmits handover commands to the UE devices prior to expansion of the compensation service area and reduction of the energy saving service area.

摘要: Systems and methods for transparent handovers of mobile relays on high-speed vehicles. In an embodiment, a base station of a wireless communications network transmits identification data to a mobile relay on a high-speed vehicle. The identification data identifies base stations which are configured for transparent handovers. The network also receives data indicative of a scheduled path of the high-speed vehicle, which it uses to select a target base station for communication with the mobile relay. Once the target base station has been selected, the network begins servicing the mobile relay from the second base station, without requiring any measurement values from the mobile relay and without handover signaling.

摘要: A method for determining scanned objects is disclosed. According to the method, a Mobile Station (MS) receives an MOB_NBR_ADV message sent by a Base Station (BS). The MOB_NBR_ADV message contains BS IDs. The method includes the following steps: setting a BS Bitmap field in a scanning process message; and mapping the BS Bitmap field to the BS IDs contained in the MOB_NBR_ADV message and determining scanned objects according to the mapping. With the method, a minimum of one bit may be mapped to one of the BS IDs, and thus scanned objects are determined. In addition, an apparatus containing BS Bitmap units is disclosed. When scanned objects are determined with the method and apparatus, the length of a scanning process message can be shortened, thus improving the air-interface resource usage of the wideband radio access system to a great extent.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided to respond to a scanning request to further improve the utilization rate of air interface resources. A scanning response message is sent to a mobile station in response to a scanning request received from the mobile station. The scanning response message can be in the form of a MOB_SCN_RSP message that includes a BS ID sequence indication field that maps the BS IDs carried in the MOB_SCN_REQ message.

摘要: In a multi-layer telecommunications system which includes an application layer and a transport layer, differing transport technologies are interworked without terminating the application layer signaling or without involving a technology interworking in the control plane of the application layer (e.g., without interworking in the application signaling). In various illustrated embodiments, the application layer is a radio network layer of a wireless telecommunications system. In at least some embodiments of the present invention a transport layer interworking function is situated on an interface between two nodes of the radio access network (RAN). The interworking function can be located in a separate node which may be a node having both ATM and internet protocol (IP) interfaces. There are numerous modes of implementing the interworking of the present invention, regardless of which interface is affected (e.g., an Iur interface, an Iu interface, or an Iub interface). A first interworking mode involves interworking with q.aal2 signaling. There are various ways or options of implementing the interworking with q.aal2 signaling. A first such example option is to use an IP specific signaling protocol over the IP network. A second example option is to use q.aal2 signaling over the IP network to/from the IP node. In one of its aspects, the present invention also provides an optimization feature in the event that nodes on both side of the interface (Iu interface, Iur interface, or Iub interface) are IP-connected nodes. Another interworking mode involves obtaining address and binding identifier parameters to be included in application signaling messages by consulting a transport layer interworking gateway. Yet another mode of implementing interworking for the present invention involves tunneling.
