摘要: An interactive information distribution system that facilitates automatic transmission of a variety of information packets to the communication devices of a calling party and parties called during a call. The information packets are comprised of actual files and or links to files or websites, and are automatically transmitted following the initiation of a call. Upon initiating a call, an indicator that may include metadata linked to information packets is processed to identify at least one database for locating information packets to which the metadata is linked. The interactive information distribution system also includes a verbal communication conversion engine that allows verbal telephone communications to be converted to text and filtered to generate keywords which are used in additional database searching to identify additional information packets. The information packets automatically identified are retrieved from a database and are transmitted to the communication devices of parties participating in a call during the call.

摘要: Technology for detecting a change in a configuration position of one or more elements in an illumination system is described. A light source generates an illumination signal, and an element of the system directs a portion of the light of the signal back to a light detector. In one example, the portion of light is reflected back to the light detector. By monitoring an output signal of the light detector based on the directed light, control circuitry can detect that a position of an element of the system has changed. In one example, an off-the-shelf integrated circuit laser diode package including a monitor photodiode can be used with a reflective element. In one example, the reflective element is a tilted optical element. Changes can be detected in the configuration of one or more optical elements of the illumination system which are outside the laser diode package.

摘要: A method and system is provided for conducting a purchasing activity among federated devices in an ad hoc network. In one example, the purchasing activity is an auction. Devices may be identified for federating into the ad hoc network. The devices may be identified, for example, based on distance from an auction item or distance from a device of a seller of the auction item. Alternatively, the purchasing activity may include a bulk purchase in which user devices may federate into an ad hoc network for sharing costs of bulk items.

摘要: A user input device includes one or more user controls that enable a user to selectively imports bits of data by activating the control when the user input devices proximate to a display surface of an interactive display system. By depressing or otherwise activating a user control, the user causes an element within the user input device to move through a plane of change so that the state of a parameter sensed by the interactive display system changes and is detected. In the examples provided, the parameter relates to infrared light that is reflected or absorbed or produced by a component of the user input device and is thus detected by an infrared sensitive camera. The input can be a single bit, or comprise a plurality of bits corresponding to a specific pattern.

摘要: A thermally stabilized lamp assembly that can be de-energized without continuing to provide moving air for cooling purposes. The assembly includes an arc lamp bulb having a base and a reflector. A heat pipe containing a thermally conductive fluid is configured for thermal communication with the arc lamp base. A heat dissipation assembly is coupled in fluid communication with the heat pipe to dissipate heat produced by the lamp into the ambient environment, thereby cooling the lamp both before and after the lamp is de-energized. Accordingly, it is not necessary to provide moving air to cool the arc lamp after it is de-energized.

摘要: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can monitor transactions between a content consumer and a user-interface that provides the content. The architecture can also monitor environment variables that relate to a content consumption environment. From one or both of these potential sources, the architecture can identify implicit behavior on the part of the content consumer that relates to the consumption of the content. The implicit behavior can be employed to determine or infer effects of the consumed content, which can supplement, enhance, or replace conventional explicit consumer feedback.

摘要: A marking carried by a physical object and discernible by an infrared (IR) sensor is at least partially concealed from the human eye. The marking is covered with a coating that is at least partially opaque in the visible spectrum and at least partially transparent in the IR spectrum (or other non-visible spectrum). The marking is thus not apparent to a human eye or to visible light sensors, while remaining discernible in the IR spectrum. Using the present invention to prevent a user from detecting the marking adds intrigue to the detection of the object, since the workings of the IR sensor that enable the sensor to identify the marking are not evident to a user. The present invention is also beneficially employed in games where it is desirable that an opponent be unable to see a marking that is detectable by the IR sensor.

摘要: A user's voice is authenticated by prompting a user to say a challenge phrase from a list of predetermined phrases and comparing the user's response with a prerecorded version of the same response. The user's stored recordings are associated with an electronic identification or serial number for a specific device, so that when communication is established using the device, only the specific user may authenticate the session. When several phrases and recordings are used, one may be selected at random for authentication so that fraudulent authentication using a recording of the user's voice may be thwarted. The system and method may be used for authenticating a device when it is first activated, such as a telephony device, or may be used when authenticating a specific communications session.
