摘要: Provided is radiation-curable ink composition containing a radiation-curable carrier system containing at least one radiation-curable monomer or oligomer and at least one pigment dispersed in the radiation-curable carrier system in an amount sufficient to provide a color which is visible without magnification. The pigment is substantially insoluble in the radiation-curable carrier system whereby the particulate shape of the pigment is substantially retained in the radiation-curable carrier system. The pigment having a particle size that substantially avoids pigment induced microbending of an optical glass fiber coated with the ink coating.

摘要: A composition which is cured upon exposure to ultraviolet light in the absence of solvent is disclosed. The liquid composition is prepared by combining a liquid maleate polyester and at least one of a vinyl compound and an allyl functional compound. A photoinitiator is then added to the polymerizable liquid composition. A substrate is impregnated with the polymerizable liquid composition and exposed to actinic energy of a sufficient dosage for a sufficient amount of time to polymerize the composition to a sufficient degree to impart useful properties to the substrate. The composition can be used as a binder for fiberglass insulation, in the manufacture of transparent or semi-transparent paper and to manufacture paper for use in photocopy machines.

摘要: A simplified method for the cathodic electrodeposition of polyamine resin from a dispersion thereof in an aqueous electrocoating bath is provided in which the polyamine is selected to be stably dispersible in water in the form of a salt with a solubilizing acid at a pH of from 6.0-7.5, and this polyamine resin is substantially completely neutralized with carbonic acid and dispersed in water in the form of an amine carbonate or bicarbonate. A unidirectional electrical current is passed through an aqueous electrocoating bath containing the amine carbonate or bicarbonate to deposit the polyamine resin at the cathode and cause the release of carbon dioxide. In preferred practice, a proportion of the amine groups in the polyamine resin within the bath, low enough to maintain the pH of the bath at a pH of about 6.0 or higher, is reacted with a relatively nonvolatile solubilizing acid, and the polyamine resin solids in the electrocoating bath are replenished by adding to bath polyamine resin substantially completely neutralized with carbonic acid.

摘要: Provided is a ribbon assembly having the functional capability of providing break-out of ink coated optical glass fibers from said ribbon assembly. The monomers, oligomers and photoinitiator for forming an ink coating on the optical glass fibers contained in the ribbon assembly have been selected to provide an average percentage of reacted acrylate unsaturation which provides a level of adhesion between a matrix material and an ink coating that is less than a level of adhesion between the ink coating and the coated optical glass fiber to provide break-out of the ink coated optical glass fiber from said ribbon assembly. Also provided are ink coating compositions adapted to form ink coatings suitable for use on optical glass fibers contained in the ribbon assembly.
