Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for locking at least two safety retainers together. Each safety retainer has a pallet-attached base and a ramp-attached mating bracket. Each safety retainer includes a base and a bracket. Each bracket is coupled to a ramp that is can be removably attached to a pallet. Each base includes a retaining arm for locking the base to the bracket when the ramp is coupled to the pallet. A locking mechanism is capable of being temporarily coupled to a first retaining arm in a first safety retainer and a second retaining arm in a second safety retainer for locking the retaining arms together. The first and second retaining arms must operate as a single unit, and cannot be moved independently, when the locking mechanism is coupled to the first and second retaining arms. The first and second retaining arms operate independently as separate units when the locking mechanism is not coupled to the first and second retaining arms.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming a lesion in tissue along a desired ablation path includes a guide member having a tissue-opposing surface for placement against a heart surface. A guide carriage is sized to be received within the guide member and moveable therein along a longitudinal axis. The carriage is configured to receive an optical fiber extending substantially axially within the carriage and bend the fiber for a discharge tip of the fiber to aim through a bottom wall of the guide member. The carriage is further configured to bend the fiber toward said discharge tip with a curved portion subject to mechanical stress and a straight portion at the fiber discharge tip. The straight portion is selected to have a length to dissipate thermal stress arising from reflectance of light from the tissue back into the discharge tip.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for applying energy to a target path on a tissue surface includes moving a proximal end of an energy source in a first direction by a first distance. During a first portion of the first distance, the source is in a non-energized mode. During a second portion of the first distance, the source in an energized mode. The proximal end is moved in a second direction along the path opposite the first direction and by a distance less than the first distance. During a first portion of the second direction, the source in a non-energized mode. During a second portion of the second direction, the source in an energized mode. The method compensates for a hysteresis between movement of a distal tip of the energy source and the proximal end.
Abstract:
A system for releasably mounting an electronic component in a computer system comprises an electronic component, a release mechanism, and a mounting tray. The electronic component includes two front and two back attachment members. The release mechanism is rotatably attached to the two back attachment members. The release mechanism includes a handle portion, an attachment portion, and at least one cam. The mounting tray is sized to receive the electronic component and rotatably attached release mechanism and includes four notches within which the electronic component attachment members are slidably received. The mounting tray further includes a latching mechanism and at least one leverage point, the leverage point being positioned to interact with the release mechanism cam.
Abstract:
A method and system is presented for ensuring that a latch securing a ramp to a pallet is properly aligned and seated before a product can be offloaded from the pallet and down the ramp. The system uses a latching system that has a pallet-attached base and a ramp-attached mating bracket. The pallet-attached base has two rods. The first rod has a retainer arm that is restricted by the second rod to a vertical position, thus preventing a shipment on the pallet from reaching the ramp. The second rod has a thin portion and a thick portion. The second rod must be laterally moved such that the mating bracket mates only with the thin portion of the rod. This lateral movement moves the second rod away from the first rod's retainer arm, thus allowing the retainer arm to fold down.

Miniature camera lenses (100, 300) include in order an object side (116, 302) to the image side (118, 304) a first double concave lens (102, 306), a lens group including first convergent meniscus lens (104, 318), a first double convex lens (106, 312), a second convergent meniscus lens (108, 318), a second double concave lens (110, 330), a second double convex lens (112, 336), and a divergent meniscus lens (114, 342). The lenses (100, 300) feature a field of view of about fifty six degrees, low distortion, a relatively long back focal distance, and a relatively low F-number.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus includes a printing mechanism having a media path. A print media source is provided for supplying a sheet of print media to the printing mechanism. A drive unit is provided, with a drive shaft coupled to the drive unit. A media sensor device is mounted to the drive shaft, wherein as the drive shaft is rotated in a first direction the media sensor device is moved from a first position that is out of the media path to a second position that is in the media path for sensing the sheet of print media. As the drive shaft is rotated in a second direction opposite to the first direction the media sensor device is moved from the second position that is in the media path for sensing the sheet of print media to the first position that is out of the media path.
Abstract:
A dishwasher basket for use with baby bottle nipples includes a specially designed rack that maintains baby bottle nipples in an upright position during the washing and drying. The base of the nipple is also prevented from resting upon the surface of the rack. Straw and valve holders are also provided that can be attached to the dishwasher basket. The dishwasher basket is able to be opened using only one hand.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention relates to a method for establishing network connectivity by a data computing device in order to download and store a catalog. The catalog includes information identifying consumables available for purchase within a marketplace. The storage of the catalog within memory of the data computing device enables subsequent review of the marketplace without continued network connectivity.
Abstract:
A feeding apparatus that has particular utility for feeding infants, small children and adults that are at risk for choking on soft food includes a mesh enclosure that is open at a first end and closed at a second end. A mesh holder engages and holds open the first open end of the mesh enclosure and has an opening communicating with the interior of the mesh enclosure through which food may be inserted into the mesh enclosure. A closure mechanism is mounted to the mesh holder for movement between a first open position wherein the opening is uncovered and food may be inserted or removed from the mesh enclosure and a second closed position wherein the food is secured within the mesh enclosure. The closure mechanism advantageously remains engaged with the mesh holder in both the first and second positions.
