Abstract:
A system and method for heat treating castings and removing sand cores therefrom. The castings are initially located in indexed positions with their x, y, and z coordinates known. The castings are passed through a heat treatment station typically having a series of nozzles mounted in preset positions corresponding to the known indexed positions of the castings passing through the heat treatment station. The nozzles apply fluid to the castings for heat treating the castings and degrading the sand cores for removal from the castings.
Abstract:
An elongated web of bag-making material (S) is bent into a tubular form by a former (2), transported along a path (A), is filled with articles (W) and sealed by a transverse sealer (10) transversely to its direction of motion. A pair of seal jaws (20) supported by rotary arms (12) are rotated in mutually opposite directions by a power-communicating mechanism (P) which includes a trajectory-forming mechanism (H) such that the seal jaws (20) will each travel on a generally D-shaped trajectory with a linear section along the path (A) of the bag-making material (S). Cramming devices (50) are adjustably attached to the rotary arms (12) and stroke the tubularly shaped bag-making material (S) from both sides in forward-backward direction (X) without substantially closing the bag being formed such that the articles (W) can be more efficiently crammed with empty spaces among them effectively reduced. Stripping rods (42) are attached to the seal jaws (20) for stripping down the articles being dropped into the bag immediately before the transverse sealing and after the cramming by the cramming devices (50) so as to prevent them from becoming caught between the seal jaws (20).
Abstract:
The SokBox is the only product of its kind that is specifically developed to effectively separate socks from regular laundry and can be conveniently mounted on a wall for quick and easy access. This unprecedented product in uniquely designed with a breathable mesh material and durable self-adhesive backing strips to ensure users are able to place the bag onto any surface as they manage the cleaning, sorting and organizing of loose socks when tending to laundry duties.
Abstract:
A drywall patch is coated with a premeasured amount of joint compound in its wet state making it immediately available for application to a wall surface. The patch with compound is sealed in an airtight wrapper or between unsealed wrapper halves which are in turn sealed in a surrounding airtight package so that the joint compound stays moist and will not harden over time. The wrapper includes a peel-away adhesive dry patch. In use, the dry patch is first applied over a crack or hole to be repaired. The wrapper and compound are applied directly over the dry patch and, while the wrapper remains in place, pressure is applied to smooth the compound over the patch and removed after the compound has dried. The wrapper is preferably composed of microporous breathable plastic film.
Abstract:
A system for automatically trimming an audio files based upon textual content associated with the audio file is provided. The source of the textual content may be an electronic document or written language text. The textual content may include predefined hints, a text mark, or end-of-phrase punctuation mark. The system generates a trimming instruction based upon textual content corresponding to the audio file, and the audio file is trimmed based upon the trimming instruction.
Abstract:
A distributed computing system manages execution of jobs and their associated tasks. A broker manages assignment of computing tasks from clients to available computing resources. Clients and available computing resources contact the broker by polling. To prevent “ringing,” the broker specifies wait times for the polling entities, and randomizes the wait times in a range around a desired target latency. That is, a pseudo-random number generator is used to select values within a range of the target value, to avoid the situation in which deterministic patterns in the polling and response times result in highly synchronized message traffic, which might otherwise overwhelm the broker and/or the communication network.
Abstract:
A wireless, mesh data acquisition network utilizes a communication process and provides fault tolerant communication between large numbers of remotely located transducers and devices.
Abstract:
A prompt collecting tool (190) for an interactive voice response system (100) includes a voice enabled application server (150), a voice simulator coupled to the voice enabled application server, and a processor coupled to the voice simulator. The processor can be programmed to execute (202) a voice application having a plurality of audio prompts, play (206) audio if a pre-stored audio is available for a particular prompt, capture (208) text when no pre-stored audio is available and forward (210) the captured text to the prompt collecting tool. The voice simulator can include a VoiceXML browser (160), a text to speech text service (170), and a text based recognition service (180) for example.
Abstract:
A vehicle ignition interlock system includes a breath analyzer and a controller operably connected to the breath analyzer and to an ignition system of the vehicle. The breath analyzer detects the breath alcohol level of a vehicle operator and is configured to prevent vehicle ignition if a breath alcohol level is greater than or equal to a threshold value. The controller requires the vehicle operator to periodically take breath analyzer “retests” after vehicle ignition in order to allow vehicle operation to continue. The breath analyzer also detects the presence of alcohol within the vehicle, such as alcohol emanating from an open container of alcohol. The controller may override one or more periodic retests if alcohol is not detected within the vehicle over a predetermined period of time. In addition, the controller may increase the frequency of periodic retests of the vehicle operator in response to detecting alcohol within the vehicle.
Abstract:
A vehicle ignition interlock system includes a breath analyzer and a controller operably connected to the breath analyzer and to an ignition system of the vehicle. The controller compares detected breath alcohol levels of the vehicle operator with a threshold value, and is configured to prevent vehicle ignition if a breath alcohol level detected by the breath analyzer is greater than or equal to a threshold value. The controller also requires the vehicle operator to periodically take breath analyzer retests after vehicle ignition in order to allow vehicle operation to continue. The controller can reduce the frequency of periodic retests in response to one or more retests when the breath alcohol level of the vehicle operator is below a threshold value. The system may include a transdermal alcohol sensor, a mouth contamination sensor, a mouth contamination sensor, and redundant alcohol sensors.
