Abstract:
An Internet facsimile apparatus makes inquiry about capability, which a destination possesses, to a local server. The server is connected to the same LAN as that of the Internet facsimile apparatus. When the local server has no capability information of the destination, the Internet facsimile apparatus makes inquiry to a DNS server and obtains capability information. Then, the Internet facsimile apparatus makes an image to be suitable for the capability of the destination and transmits it to the destination via the Internet. As a result, the Internet facsimile apparatus on a transmitter side can surely obtain capability information of a destination terminal, thereby making it possible to carry out the same capability exchange as that of G3 facsimile apparatus.
Abstract:
A particular image written in a particular paper of a particular paper size is scanned by a scanner to produce image data, a format of the image data is changed to a mail format to change the image data to mail data, the particular paper size is added to the mail data, and the mail data is transmitted from a transmitting side to a receiving side through a LAN by an electronic mail. In the receiving side, the mail data is changed to reproduced image data, and it is judged whether or not the particular paper size of the particular paper is larger than a prescribed paper size treatable on the receiving side. In cases where the particular paper size is larger than the prescribed paper size, the reproduced image data is thinned out to produce adjusted image data, and a downsized image is printed on a prescribed paper of the prescribed paper size according to the adjusted image data. Accordingly, even though an image written in a paper of a paper size not treatable on the receiving side is transmitted from the transmitting side to the receiving side, because the image is downsized, the image can be reproduced on the receiving side.
Abstract:
An IP telephone system includes a source IP telephone apparatus, a destination telephone apparatus, a Web server and an ENUM server. The IP telephone apparatuses function as base stations for multi-handset telephone systems and are connected to an IP network. The Web server stores ring tone information corresponding to a telephone number assigned to the source or destination IP telephone apparatus. The ENUM server stores a NAPTR resource record in which a URI specifies link data related to the ring tone information stored in the Web server. In the IP telephone system, the IP telephone apparatus that has received a call transmits, to the ENUM server, a query for a NAPTR record corresponding to an intended recipient's telephone number. The IP telephone apparatus then transmits, to the Web server, a request for the ring tone information corresponding to the intended recipient's telephone number according to the obtained NAPTR resource record, and sounds a ring tone through the apparatus itself and the handsets that are connected to the apparatus according to the obtained ring tone information.
Abstract:
An e-mail communication apparatus connected an administrator via a network includes a receiver that receives e-mail from a sender over the network and a detector that detects whether or not the received e-mail can be handled, based upon whether the e-mail can be opened in the e-mail communication apparatus. A printer prints the received e-mail when the detector detects that the e-mail can be handled in e-mail communication apparatus and a transmitter transmits a notice e-mail to the administrator when the detector detects that the e-mail cannot be handled in e-mail communication apparatus. The receiver, the detector and the printer are integrated in the e-mail communication apparatus.
Abstract:
An IP telephone system includes a source IP telephone apparatus, a destination telephone apparatus, a Web server and an ENUM server. The IP telephone apparatuses are connected to an IP network. The Web server stores call reception screen information corresponding to a telephone number assigned to the source or destination IP telephone apparatus. The ENUM server stores a NAPTR resource record in which a URI specifies link information related to the call reception screen information stored on the Web server. In the IP telephone system, the IP telephone apparatus that has received a call transmits, to the ENUM server, a query for a NAPTR record corresponding to an intended recipient's telephone number. The IP telephone apparatus then transmits, to the Web server, a request for the call reception screen information corresponding to the intended recipient's telephone number according to the obtained NAPTR resource record, and displays a call reception screen according to the obtained call reception screen information.
Abstract:
An electronic-mail communication apparatus includes an acceptor that accepts image data, a converter that converts the image data into electronic mail format data, and a display section that displays a list of destinations for transmitting the electronic mail format data. An operational panel designates at least one destination, of the destinations displayed on the display section; and an e-mail transmitter transmits the electronic mail format data to the at least one destination designated by the operational panel, via a communication network.
Abstract:
An electronic mail system connected to a network includes a section for converting an image of a document surface into corresponding document image data, and a section for compressing the document image data into compression-resultant image data. The electronic mail system also includes a section for converting the compression-resultant image data into corresponding image data of a given electronic-mail format, a section for receiving information of an electronic-mail destination address, and a section for transmitting the image data of the electronic-mail format toward the electronic-mail destination address via the network. The electronic mail system may further include a section for receiving image data in an electronic mail, a section for converting the received image data into corresponding received image data of a given facsimile format, a section for expanding the received image data of the facsimile format into expansion-resultant image data, and a section for printing the expansion-resultant image data.
Abstract:
IFAX determines whether IFAX transmission processing or network scanner processing should be performed based on whether a start button or a scanner button is pressed on after an operator inputs a destination mail address. In a case of performing IFAX transmission processing, a journal is superimposed on an original image and e-mail is transmitted to the IFAX via a mail server. While, in a case of performing network scanner processing, the IFAX does not perform the creation of journal, bitmapping, compression, and combination with the original image. Therefore, the original image can be transferred to a PC without superimposing the journal thereon. This prevents the trouble in which the journal hinders the PC from dealing with the original image.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus is connected to a telephone network and to an internet network. The facsimile apparatus is capable of receiving E-mail data via the internet network and transmitting facsimile data to a facsimile destination via the telephone network. A detector detects a password indicating an instruction to relay the received E-mail data to the facsimile destination, and a telephone number of the facsimile destination, in a mail address of the E-mail data. A generator, when the detector detects the password and the telephone number, deletes the password from the mail address, and generates header information including a mail address after deleting the password. A converter converts the E-mail data, including the header information, into facsimile data. A transmitter transmits the converted facsimile data with the header information, but without the password to the facsimile destination indicated by the telephone number.
Abstract:
Internet facsimile apparatus 1 notifies a facsimile number of the final destination to server 3 and acquires an e-mail address of a relay apparatus from server 3. And it transmits an e-mail attached image information to Internet facsimile apparatus 2 corresponding to the acquired e-mail address. At this time, it inserts a relay transfer instruction command to a part of a header of the e-mail to order a relay transfer. Internet facsimile apparatus 2 functioning as a relay apparatus converts a specific predetermined information among the header information of the e-mail to be relay transferred into the same format as that of the image information, and transmits the converted specific information with the image information to facsimile apparatus 4 of the final destination.
