Abstract: A device is disclosed for plugging into a standard wall outlet that is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) and for facilitating detection of a GFCI trip using a door/window sensor of a security system. The device comprises: a plug, the plug configured to plug into an outlet, wherein the outlet is protected by the GFCI; and an electromagnet. The electromagnet is powered by the outlet when the plug is plugged into the outlet. The electromagnet is automatically powered off when the GFCI trips. The electromagnet is configured to be located proximate the window/door sensor of the security system for detecting when the electromagnet is powered off. The window/door sensor is configured to signal an absence of an electromagnetic field near the window/door sensor.

Abstract: A group call is setup between one originating device (A) and at least two terminating devices (B, C), which each has access to a public land mobile network (131, 132, 133) and a mobile data net-work (121, 122, 123). The originating and terminating devices (A, B, C) include a respective software-implemented call handling tool (SWA, SWB, SWC) configured to assist a user in placing and receiving group calls. Bridge nodes (141, 142, 143) are connected to the mobile data network (121, 122, 123), the public land mobile network (131, 132, 133) and a server node (110), which, in turn, also is connected to the mobile data network (121, 122, 123). In response to a call-setup command from a user of the originating device (A), the software-implemented call handling tool (SWA), on one hand, sends a call-setup request (1) to the server node (110); and on the other hand, makes a first call (2) to a first bridge node (141) over the public land mobile network (131) using a first telephone number (#1) stored in the originating device (A). The call-setup request (1) indicates an identity of the terminating devices (B, C). Based on the call-setup request (1) and the first call (2), the server node (110) sets up a call between the originating and terminating devices (A, B, C) over a conference bridge (146) in the first bridge node (141), plus possibly other bridge nodes (147, 148) depending on where the devices (A, B, C) are located relative to one another.

Abstract: A user may have multiple devices that are associate with a single user address such as an email address, a telephone number, a user name, a user ID, etc. When a communication is addressed to the single user address, a location of each of the devices is determined, and any devices that are co-located within a common geographic area are identified. For those devices within the common geographic area, one of the devices is selected and instructed to play an audible alert. The other devices within the common geographic area are not instructed or are specifically instructed not to play the audible alert. All of the user's multiple devices may present a visual alert.

Abstract: A method can include accessing, from memory, sensor data in response to detecting an incoming communication to a given communication endpoint, the sensor data representing at least one of a condition of the given communication endpoint or a condition of an operating environment associated with the given communication endpoint. The method can also include applying a profile to the sensor data to determine whether to extend or truncate a duration that the incoming communication at the given communication endpoint. The profile may be learned based on the sensor data associated with one or more previous incoming communication being answered or not answered. The method further includes adapting the duration that the incoming communication is offered at the given communication endpoint based on the applied profile.
