Abstract:
The invention provides organic silicone copolymers based on a) from 30 to 99% by weight of a vinylaromatic, (meth)acrylic ester, vinyl ester, olefin, diene, and/or vinyl halide monomer, and b) from 1 to 70% by weight of a mixture of at least two diorganopolysiloxanes having the general formula R1aR3-aSiO(SiR2O)nSiR3-aR1a, in which each R denotes a monovalent, optionally substituted, C1-18 alkyl or C1-18 alkoxy radical, R1 denotes a polymerizable group, a is 0 or 1, at least one a being 1, and n is an integer, where b1) from 5 to 65% by weight of the silicone component b) is a diorganopolysiloxane with n≦30 and only one terminal polymerizable group R1, and b2) from 35 to 95% by weight of the silicone component b) is a diorganopolysiloxane with n≧55 and with one or two terminal polymerizable groups R1.
Abstract:
Silicone-modified polyvinyl acetal copolymers are prepared by copolymerization of at least one vinyl ester monomer and a copolymerizable silicone macromer followed by hydrolysis to a partly or fully hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol copolymer and subsequent acetalation with at least one aldehyde. The copolymers have numerous uses in sectors where polyvinyl acetals are useful.
Abstract:
The invention relates to polyvinyl alcohols and polyvinyl acetals which contain silane and can be obtained by means of a) radical polymerisation of at least one vinyl ester of unbranched or branched alkyl carboxylic acids comprising between 1 and 18 C atoms, in the presence of aldehydes containing silane or the hemiacetals or full acetals thereof, b) saponification of the vinyl ester polymers obtained thereby, and optionally c) acetalation of the partially saponified or fully saponified vinyl ester polymers.
Abstract:
Silane-modified polyvinyl acetals are obtained by copolymerizing a) vinyl esters of C1-15 alkylcarboxylic acids having from 1 to 15 carbon atoms, and optionally (meth)acrylates C1-15 of alcohols, olefins, dienes, vinylaromatics, or vinyl halides, with b) from 0.02 to 20.0 % by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated, hydrolyzable silicon compounds or hydrolyzable mercaptosilanes; hydrolyzing the resulting vinyl ester copolymers to 50 mol % or more of vinyl alcohol units; and acetalizing vinyl alcohol units with a C1-15 aliphatic or aromatic aldehydes, wherein from 5 to 50 % by weight of a mixture of comonomers a) and silane comonomers b), based on the total weight of comonomers a) and b), is used as an initial charge, and the remainder is metered in during polymerization, such that the ratio between the comonomers a) and silane comonomers b) remains constant throughout the polymerization, resulting in a homogeneous polymer.
