    Abstract: Described herein are exemplary embodiments of a light guide assembly for a backlight and backlight assemblies using such light guide assemblies. An exemplary backlight assembly may have a light guide with a pair of opposing edges and a sliding LED subassembly placed along an edge of the light guide and attached to the light guide so that movement of the light guide causes movement of the sliding LED subassembly. In some embodiments, a first slot may be positioned within the light guide where a post extends from the sliding LED subassembly to engage with the first slot in the light guide. In some embodiments, a back pan may be positioned behind the light guide where a post can extend from the back pan to engage with a second slot in the light guide.

    Abstract: A display assembly which detects abnormal operating conditions, such as gas recirculation or airway occlusion, is provided. An electronic display is located within a housing. An airflow pathway travels through the housing and is configured to accept, circulate, and exhaust air by way of one or more fans. One or more sensors measure characteristics of the air. Weather conditions for a location of the display assembly are gathered, measurements from the sensors are received, and a determination is made as to whether the measurements of the ingested air are within a margin of error expected measurements derived from the gathered weather conditions. An alert is generated if the measurements of the ingested air are not within the margin of error.

    Abstract: Exemplary embodiments disclosed herein provide a LCD assembly including an LED backlight, a liquid crystal display (LCD) placed in front of the LED backlight, a glass plate positioned between LED backlight and the LCD; and an optical film positioned between the glass plate and the LCD. In some embodiments, the glass plate is bonded to the rear side of the LCD, generally around the perimeter of the LCD. Preferred embodiments place a diffusing film within a cavity that is defined between the glass plate and the LCD. Some embodiments also bond the backlight cavity walls to the glass plate, on a side opposing the LCD.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for cooling an electronic image assembly are provided. A transparent panel forms a front portion of a housing for the electronic image assembly. The transparent panel is located forward of, and at least some distance from the electronic image assembly. An airflow pathway passes through the housing between said electronic image assembly and said transparent panel. An air circulation device forces air through the airflow pathway. At least one polarizer located at the transparent panel is configured to reduce solar energy entering said airflow pathway.

    Abstract: An assembly for an electronic display includes a digital side assembly and an access panel mounted to a frame. The digital side assembly includes a housing, a display layer located behind a cover panel, a front channel between the display layer and the cover panel, and a side assembly open loop channel behind the display layer. A cooling channel is located between the frame and the rear surfaces of the access panel and the digital side assembly. An open loop pathway for ambient air includes the side assembly open loop channel and an access panel open loop channel. A closed loop pathway for circulating gas includes the cooling channel and the front channel.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring the status of a touchscreen at a display assembly. Signals are transmitted to the touchscreen. Where signals to the touchscreen are interrupted for at least a predetermined amount of time, a type and location of damage are identified.     Abstract: Exemplary embodiments disclosed herein provide a back pan cooling assembly for an electronic display having a rear pan. A cooling back pan is preferably positioned behind the rear pan, the space between the cooling back pan and the rear pan defining a gap. A fan is positioned to cause a flow of ambient air through the gap. An electronic component for driving the electronic display may be placed in conductive thermal communication with the cooling back pan. A rear cover can be placed against the cooling back pan to define a sealed compartment which does not permit ambient air to enter. A port can be provided within the rear cover which allows ambient air to travel between the surroundings, the fan, and the gap.

    Abstract: Methods for measuring power consumption include providing an assembly with electronic display subassemblies at a housing. The subassemblies each include light sources behind or adjacent to an electronic display layer and electricity consuming components. A simulated electric meter is electrically interposed between a utility electric supply and the electricity consuming components. The simulated electric meter includes a processor, an electronic storage device, and a current sensor. The assembly is operated. Current measurements are taken at the simulated electric meter. The power consumed is determined by multiplying each of the one or more current measurements with a predetermined amount or measurements from a voltage sensor to determine one or more power consumption measures.
