A disk-control unit at a remote site receives file data written in accordance with an update of a file in a storage system at a local site and a history of the file-management information from the storage system at the local site and stores the data and the history. A file-system processing unit refers to the history and updates the file-management information in a file-system cache in accordance with the update of the file in the storage system at the local site. When a client issues a read request, the file-system processing unit refers to the file-management information updated in the file-system cache and transfers the contents of the update of the file to the client.

    摘要: A system for performing efficient backup in an environment where a plurality of file servers exist, making the plurality of file servers externally look like a single apparatus. The present invention provides a computer system comprising hosts, first and second file servers connected to the hosts, and a storage system connected to the first and second file servers. The second file server determines that a file as a backup object is managed by the first file server, and notifies the first file server of an instruction of backup. In response to this instruction, the first server sends the second file server an identifier of a storage device that stores duplicate data of the file in question. Based on the received identifier, the second file server sets a path to that storage device, and obtains the backup data from that storage device.

    摘要: A data sharing method for use in a computer system provided with a first computer, a second computer and a data storage subsystem for connection with the first and second computers is disclosed. The data storage subsystem has a plurality of memory units and a control unit for controlling the plurality of memory units. The control unit forms a paired state of a first memory unit storing data for use by the first computer and a second memory unit, the paired state being so controlled as to match the contents of the first memory unit and those of the second memory unit. When data used by the first computer are to be used by the second computer, the control unit releases the paired state between the first memory unit and the second memory unit to stop updating of the first memory unit to be reflected in the second memory unit. After that, the control unit re-maps a third memory unit used by the second computer and the second memory unit with each other, and so performs control that the access by the second computer to the third memory unit be made to the second memory unit.

The storage access program is configured to receive a proposed new time for the clock, determine whether the proposed new time is reasonable using the current time, the last adjustment time and a specific range selected from the maximum adjustable time ranges, and adjust the current time of the clock to the proposed new time if it is determined that the proposed new time is reasonable. The storage access program is further configured to prevent adjustment of the clock to the proposed new time if it is determined that the proposed new time is unreasonable.
