    摘要: The invention provides an autostereoscopic display device having an adjuster for adjusting the direction of a light beam (5). The adjuster (1) has an off-state and on-state and comprises a stack (10) of layers. The stack (10) comprises a first solid material layer (100) having a first optic axis (111), a second solid material layer (200) having a second optic axis (211), and switchable birefringent twisted nematic liquid crystal material (30) or chiral nematic liquid crystal material. Further, the stack includes a first interface (130) between the first solid material layer (100) and birefringent material (30) and a second interface (230) between the second solid material layer (200) and birefringent material (30). In the off-state, the birefringent material (30) at the first interface (130) is configured to have an optic axis parallel to the first optic axis (111) and the birefringent material (30) at the second interface (230) is configured to have an optic axis parallel to the second optic axis (211). In the on-state, the birefringent material (30) at the first interface (130) is configured to have an optic axis perpendicular to the first optic axis (111) and the birefringent material (30) at the second interface (230) is configured to have an optic axis perpendicular to the second optic axis (211).

    摘要: An illumination system for illuminating a display device includes a light-mixing chamber having a light-exit window, a rear wall situated opposite the light-exit window, and edge walls which extend between the light-exit window and the rear wall. A surface of the rear wall is substantially specularly reflective for specularly reflecting light impinging on the surface of the rear wall and having a relatively large angle of incidence with respect to an axis perpendicular to the rear wall. The illumination system further includes a light source light out-coupling elements. The light source emits light into the light-mixing chamber in a direction substantially parallel to the light-exit window. The illumination system further includes an angularly reflective filter applied at the light-exit window. The angularly reflective filter includes substantially transparent layers, each layer having a substantially uniform thickness. Each set of two adjacent layers of the angularly reflective filter has different refractive indexes.

    摘要: The invention relates to an illumination system (10), a backlighting system and a display device. The illumination system comprises a light source (20) configured to emit light via a light guide (30) to a light exit window (40) of the illumination system. The light guide has a front wall (32) arranged opposite a rear wall (34) so as to guide light in a direction substantially parallel to the front wall. A distance (D) between the light guide (30) and the light exit window (40) reduces towards an edge (42) of the light exit window (40). The light guide (30) further comprises a light entrance window (36) for receiving the light from the light source which is arranged away from the edge of the light exit window. The illumination system according to the invention has, inter alia, the effect that its thickness may be reduced at the edge of the light exit window.

The display controller (6) is further adapted to individually control a color output of each light-emitting element (5) based on the received image data (ID). The performance of a display device having a controllable illuminating member, such as a backlight or a frontlight, can be considerably improved by individually controlling the color output, rather than merely the intensity, of the light-emitting members comprised in the controllable illuminating member.
