A method and system for storing and modifying register transfer language (RTL) described logic types. Upon a declaration of a signal interconnect, a language extension of a register transfer language is defined for the signal interconnect based on the signal interconnect”s type. The language extensions allow different signal interconnect types, such as those used with field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and standard cells, to be stored in a same file array hierarchy. This storage facilitates changing logic types, thus ultimately resulting in an integrated circuit (IC) that is either smaller (using more standard cells) or more flexible (using more FPGA cells). The transition from one RTL type to another is performed within the physical design cycle, in which wiring, timing and placement of components (information) is performed before masking out the final chip design.

A method of providing a reticle layout for a die having at least three patterns, namely a right pattern, a center pattern, and a left pattern, where the center pattern is oversized relative to the photolithography step size. To avoid the non-uniformity effects resulting from stitching the center pattern, the center pattern size is minimized. This is accomplished by moving portions of the center pattern to the left and right patterns.

A method for pipeline padding for reducing the size of spoil disposed in a pile utilizes a vehicle having first and second sides adapted for movement on the surface of the spoil pile. The vehicle includes first and second surface engaging devices disposed on each side of the vehicle. The spoil is crushed using a crushing assembly connected to the vehicle for movement with the vehicle. Spoil is transferred using a transferring assembly connected to the vehicle for movement with the vehicle for transferring spoil from the pile to the crushing assembly. Disposed between the vehicle sides, adjacent the transferring assembly and connected to the vehicle for movement with the vehicle is a control structure for controlling passage of spoil from the spoil pile forward of the surface engaging devices to a position under the surface engaging devices.
