摘要: A method for compensating for wavelength drift in a fiber-optic laser transmitter includes 1) controlling a temperature within the optoelectronic assembly at a defined level; 2) driving the optoelectronic assembly to emit light, wherein the emitted light has a wavelength that is within a channel of operation, the channel of operation including a range of wavelengths centered around a channel center wavelength; 3) accessing from memory within the optoelectronic assembly a control value associated with the temperature of the optoelectronic assembly at defined points within an operational lifetime of the optoelectronic assembly; and 4) recalculating the defined level by reference to the control value, whereby a wavelength of the optoelectronic assembly is maintained within the channel of operation despite an expected drift of wavelength.

摘要: One example of a method for operating a transceiver includes selecting a first operating wavelength from a set of operating wavelengths. Next, a first control value is accessed that corresponds to the first operating wavelength. The first control value also corresponds to a first operating temperature of the transceiver, and the first operating temperature resides within a range of about 30° C. to about 50° C. Finally, the transceiver is operated substantially at the first operating temperature.

摘要: A system and method of minimizing the amount of power that is used by an optoelectronic module is disclosed. The system uses a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) to maintain a case temperature of the module at about 50° C. This allows the TEC to operate in the much more efficient heating mode, thus minimizing the amount of current being used to maintain the module temperature. The method includes the steps of determining a temperature range and operating temperature for an optoelectronic module, such that a maximum current level is not exceeded. In one exemplary embodiment, an operating temperature of about 50° C. with a temperature range of from about −5° C. to about 75° C. allows a maximum current of about 300 mA.

摘要: An anti-skid braking system using a mass acceleration sensor to control the amount of hydraulic pressure applied to the wheel cylinders. In this application the accelerometer is used to sense a decrease in velocity only. The system can be used on any vehicle traversing any surface. For any vehicle tire/wheel combination there is a given foot print, (area of contact between the tire and road surface}. The foot print will dictate a maximum coefficient of friction for a given tire/pressure combination. The deceleration sensed by the accelerometer is used to limit the hydraulic pressure applied to the brake cylinders at a pressure less than would be required to reach the maximum coefficient of friction limit. Under cold/wet/ice conditions, snow, ice, or water of a depth to cause hydroplaning, this system will allow the wheels to be locked. Most Auto braking systems would cycle the wheel between locked and free wheeling.

摘要: An improved cup and method for making same for use on a “pig” or any other down hole equipment for engaging the wall of a pipe line, which comprises an inner metal sleeve portion; a metal shoulder portion extending outward from the sleeve around its perimeter extending into an angulated arm portion; a strong flexible material, such as polyurethane, molded onto an outer surface of the sleeve, and enveloping the metal shoulder and arm portion, the flexible material defining the outer body and cup portion of the improved cup, so that the metal shoulder and arm portion enveloped by and integral to the cup portion provides additional support to the flexible material to prevent deformation of other damage to the circular cup as it would be positioned on the “pig” body or other down hole device. The improved cup would be formed by placing the metal sleeve with the shoulder and arm member into a mold; pouring the plastic-type polyurethane material into the mold, so that upon curing, the plastic-type material adheres to an outer surface of the sleeve and completed envelopes the shoulder and arm portion of the cup; allowing the plastic-type material to cure; and removing the composite cup from the mold to be positioned onto the body of a pig or other device for use down hole.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system for use in motorized vehicles to provide a vehicle back-up alarm system, intended for mounting on a vehicle, that also incorporates an apparatus for detecting and alarming low battery conditions. Preferably incorporated into a main housing are the electronic components that perform power regulation, system control, voltage sensing, timing, alarm tone generation, sound emitting and, optionally, light emitting. The housing serves to securely fix and retain these components and to protect them from moisture and dirt. The circuitry is connected to the vehicle upon which it is installed by preferably three connection terminals situated on the housing. Distinctive tones and/or lamp sequences alert the operator and those by-standers within proximity to the vehicle to different alarm conditions.

摘要: A method and apparatus are described for enabling a first node, which utilizes a first naming protocol, to obtain an network address of another node from a naming service that does not provide addresses in accordance with the first naming protocol. A network embodying the present invention includes a naming proxy agent. A first node in the network obtains network addresses corresponding to node names according to a first naming protocol, and a second node conducts network naming operations according to a second naming protocol that is incompatible with the first naming protocol. As a result, the first node cannot by itself obtain the address of the second node by means of a node name query under the first naming protocol. However, the naming proxy agent receives a first naming query transmitted by the first node according to the first naming protocol that includes the name of the second node. The naming proxy agent converts the first naming query into a second naming query that also includes the registered name. The naming proxy agent transmits the second naming query according to the second naming protocol.
