摘要： Video information intended to be reproduced on a television screen (1) often includes additional information such as graphics information (3) or subtitles (4) in addition to the main information such as film images (2). This additional information is transmitted separately, so that the user may choose whether the additional information is to be displayed or not. In the disclosed method the transmitted video signal comprises information relating to the duration (25) for which the additional information is to remain on the display. With this method the additional information can be displayed exactly for the duration of the desired time. When a video disc or tape is used for transferring video information, this is advantageous in trick modes, such as Fast Forward.

摘要： A method of recording an encoded bit stream, said encoded bit stream representing a plurality of video objects comprising a sequence of cells together constituting a part of an MPEG2 Program Stream, on a disc like record carrier, such as an optical disc. The method comprises recording video objects comprising a sequence of contiguously recorded cells, each cell comprising a unique cell identification number within a video object, recording of a playback sequence of cells that defines a playable program chain of cells, wherein said sequence comprises references to the cell identification numbers and recording navigation data within said cells comprising said cell identification numbers.The method further comprises dividing at least one previously recorded cell into new cells and/or overwriting at least one previously recorded cell at least partly with a new cell, assigning the at least one new cell with a cell identification number and recording a new playback sequence of cells employing the at least one new cell, the new playback sequence not necessarily employing an incremental numbering of cell identification numbers.Hereby a time consuming renumbering of all cells is being avoided.

When finalizing the disc, the recorded management information signals is copied to the reserved area in correspondence to the latest mapping table information and the remaining unrecorded sections of the reserved area is recorded with arbitrary data signals.

摘要： The invention relates to an apparatus for receiving a first and second video signal. The first video signal represents a sequence of images having a first size, and the second video signal representing a sequence of images having a second size, the second size being smaller then the first size of the images. The apparatus combines said first and second video signal so as to obtain a composite video signal suitable for displaying on a display unit. The signal combination means being adapted to combine the first and second video signal while the size of the images corresponding to the second video signal remains unchanged.

Logically the OTP disc has a single recording area, but physically a first part (54) is located on layer 0 (L0) and a second part (57) on layer 1 (L1). For recording a first amount ofdata dollowed by a second, larger, amount of data, the size of the first part is adapted to be at least equal to a data size of the second part by recording at least most of the first amount of data in the first part, including a filling area (49) in the first part, and recording at least most of the second amount of data in the second part. This has the advantage that a different amount of data can be accommodated on both layers, while a layer jump is easy.
