Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a millimeter wave repeater may communicate with a base station using a first set of antennas and a first beamforming configuration for the first set of antennas, the first beamforming configuration being selected from a beamforming codebook that includes multiple beamforming configurations; and communicate with one or more user equipments (UEs) using a second set of antennas and a second beamforming configuration for the second set of antennas, the second beamforming configuration being a fixed configuration that does not change for different communications between the second set of antennas and the one or more UEs. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support power saving of wireless repeaters. Generally, the described techniques provide for wireless device (e.g., wireless repeater, wireless relay device, etc.) power savings in the absence of an attached (e.g., connected) user equipment (UE). For example, a wireless repeater may operate in a power saving mode and monitor for control information from a base station according to a slow state (e.g., according to a relatively long monitoring periodicity). Upon detection of possible UE attachment to the base station (e.g., upon detection of a random access channel (RACH) message), the wireless repeater may transition to monitoring for control information from the base station according to a fast state (e.g., according to a relatively short, or more frequent, monitoring periodicity).

Abstract: The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support modem control using millimeter wave (mmW) energy measurement. Generally, the described techniques provide for wireless device (e.g., wireless repeater) power savings in the absence of an attached (e.g., connected) user equipment (UE). For example, a wireless repeater may perform relay operations (e.g., amplification and forwarding operations) for communications between a base station and a UE in some channel (e.g., in a mmW channel). The wireless repeater may use energy measurements in the channel (e.g., analog mmW measurements) to control or configure a digital interface for monitoring out of band control information (e.g., in a sub-6 gigahertz (GHz) channel). For example, a wireless repeater may use energy measurements of signals transmitted by devices in a mmW band to configure (e.g., turn on) a digital interface of another modem to monitor for control information in a sub-6 GHz band.

Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, products, and methods for wireless communication. For example, a communication system may include a repeater having a first communication interface that receives a control message that indicates a measurement configuration for a second communication interface of the repeater that is different than the first communication interface. The repeater receives, via the second communication interface, a first signal at the repeater from a first device. The repeater also measures a power metric associated with the first signal based on the measurement configuration. In some implementations, a base station or another device (e.g., UE), may communicate with the repeater and take one or more actions based on the power metric measured by the repeater.

Abstract: A node including an RU and a control entity is disclosed. The node may receive, from a base station at a control entity of the node, an indication of at least one obstruction for communication via at least one reflective surface. The indication may indicate to the control entity to utilize an RU of the node and the at least one reflective surface for communication. The node may configure, upon receiving the indication of the at least one obstruction, the RU and the at least one reflective surface for communication with the base station. The node may forward communication received from, or forward communication to, the base station via the RU and the at least one reflective surface based on the at least one obstruction for communication.

Abstract: A node including a non-planar reflective surface is disclosed. The node may receive, from a base station, an indication of a surface configuration of at least one convex reflective surface of the node. The node may configure, upon receiving the indication of the surface configuration, the at least one convex reflective surface based on the surface configuration. The node may forward communication received from, or forward communication to, the base station based on the surface configuration of the at least one convex reflective surface.

Abstract: A node may identify a node configuration including one or more surface phase configurations associated with the node. In one configuration, the node may receive, from the base station, an indication of the node configuration. In another configuration, the node may select, at a controller associated with the node, the node configuration. Abstract: A base station may select a plurality of node parameters of a node including at least one of: a number of UEs that have accessed a network while the node is operational, an amount of information that has been communicated through the network while the node is operational, one or more QoS measurements while the node is operational, or one or more resources utilized for operation of the node. The base station may configure, upon selecting the plurality of node parameters, an access threshold for the node based on the plurality of node parameters. The base station may transmit, to the node, an indication of the access threshold for the node based on the plurality of node parameters. The node may configure, upon receiving the indication of the access threshold, access to the node for each of the number of UEs based on the access threshold.
