    Abstract: Antenna systems with beam tracking and scanning ability are described. The antenna systems include one or more reflectors and one or more feeds. The tracked or scanned beam(s) are produced by moving the feed(s) while the reflector(s) is kept static. This greatly reduces the complexity of the antenna beam tracking and scanning mechanism, while providing the highest possible antenna efficiency and gain in a wide angular range. Multiple beams and/or switched beams can also be achieved using multiple feeds and/or switches.

    Abstract: A portable antenna terminal includes a deck on which is mounted a storage frame, and on which there is also supported an antenna that includes a kingpost shaft and a modular reflector that is formed from a plurality of reflector panels and a central reflector hub. The storage frame defines a storage space for storing the plurality of reflector panels and a receptacle for secured reception of the reflector hub. When fully loaded with all terminal components, the terminal has a total weight of equal to or less than 10,000 lbs., preferably equal to or less than 7,500 lbs., and more preferably equal to or less than 5,000 lbs. In a storage configuration, with the modular antenna components secured in stored positions, the terminal has dimensions equal to or less than 84 in. L×104 in. W×92 in. H.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a deployable reflector system. The methods comprising: causing a proximal end of a first link element (LE) located at a first end of a scissoring rib assembly (SRA) to slidingly engage a hub; allowing a proximal end of a second LE of SRA to pivot relative to the hub so as to cause scissor motion of SRA while the first LE is slidingly engaging the hub; causing a distal end of a third LE located at a second end of SRA to pivot relative to the edge member during the scissor motion of SA; allowing the edge member to slidingly engage a fourth LE located at the second end of SRA during pivotal motion of the third LE; and using the edge member to cause vertical movement of a peripheral edge of a reflector relative to the hub while the edge member slidingly engages the fourth LE.
