    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a discovery reference signal from a base station on an anchor channel. The UE may perform a first random or pseudorandom frequency hopping procedure to identify a plurality of downlink carriers for a first time period. The UE may perform a second random or pseudorandom frequency hopping procedure within the plurality of downlink carriers to select one of the plurality of downlink carriers as the uplink channel for a second time period. The UE may then transmit an uplink communication during the second time period on the selected uplink channel. In some examples, the uplink communication may be transmitted based at least in part on time division multiplexing (TDM) information.

    Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program for wireless communication that allows for greater scheduling flexibility of physical resources are disclosed. A UE receives information from a base station about a time division duplex (TDD) frame structure of a plurality of frames that include a plurality of subframes. The UE determines a control channel search space within the plurality of subframes based on the information. The UE determines a search strategy including a maximum aggregation level based on the control channel search space. The UE performs a blind decoding of the control channel search space with the search strategy to obtain control information. The control channel search space may include a size and a location of a subset of the DL subframes allowed to carry the control information. The UE may determine a plurality of UL subframes assigned for transmitting scheduled UL resources associated with a UL control signaling.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station and user equipment (UE) may utilize an enhanced physical downlink control channel (ePDCCH) within a common search space to establish a MulteFire connection. The common search space may include a common PDCCH (C-PDCCH) and a MulteFire system information block (SIB-MF1) grant. The base station may define one or more common search spaces for the SIB-MF1 grants and C-PDCCH and signal the resource allocation for the common search spaces to the UE within a master information block (MIB). Each common search space may include a fixed set of control elements that the UE monitors for decoding the SIB-MF1 grants and C-PDCCH. In some cases, the base station may hardcode resources for the SIB-MF1 grants and C-PDCCH. Alternatively, the base station may signal the resources for each of the SIB-MF1 grants and C-PDCCH via reserved bits in the MIB.

    Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In one example, the apparatus may be a base station. In certain configurations, the apparatus may transmit information indicating a narrowband frequency hopping pattern to at least one UE. In certain aspects, the narrowband frequency hopping pattern may correspond to a plurality of frames. In certain other aspects, the plurality of frames may include at least one non-anchor channel and being associated with a plurality of anchor channels. The apparatus may communicate with the at least one UE using the narrowband frequency hopping pattern, including concurrently transmitting a discovery reference signal (DRS) in each of the plurality of anchor channels at a start of each hopping frame. In certain aspects, communication on the plurality of anchor channels may occur during the same frames.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless systems utilizing shared radio frequency spectrum bands, base stations may operate in different listen before talk (LBT) modes. For example, a base station may operate in an LBT enabled mode or a non-LBT enabled mode. A UE may perform system acquisition with the base station based on receiving acquisition signals (e.g., synchronization signals and physical broadcast channel (PBCH) signals) from the base station. These acquisition signals may depend on the LBT mode of the base station. For example, the frame timing and number of subframes for the acquisition signals may be based on the LBT mode of the base station. In some cases, a base station may adaptively switch LBT modes, and the UE may re-synchronize with the base station based on an LBT configuration period or a paging message from the base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for synchronization for wideband coverage enhancement. A user equipment (UE) may receive a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) in a subframe. In one example, the SSS may be received in a symbol that is after a symbol in which the PSS is received, and after a set of symbols in which a set of other synchronization signals is received. In another example, the PSS may be received in each of a first plurality of consecutive symbols, and the SSS may be received in each of a second plurality of consecutive symbols, wherein the second plurality of consecutive symbols is after the first plurality of consecutive symbols within the subframe. The UE may synchronize with a base station based at least in part on the PSS and the SSS. Numerous other aspects are provided.

    Abstract: Techniques for random access channel signaling on a shared communication medium are disclosed. A broadcast message including information associated with a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) may be transmitted and received on one or more subframes in a portion configured for downlink signaling. The broadcast message may comprise a contention type indicator, a timing advance indicator, or a combination thereof. The contention type indicator may indicate whether contention is in effect for transmission on the PRACH. The timing advance indicator may indicate whether an uplink transmission offset is in effect for transmission on the PRACH. Signaling over the PRACH may be transmitted and received on one or more subframes in a portion configured for uplink signaling.
