Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for optimizing real time services (e.g., such as a voice over Long Term Evolution (LTE) (VoLTE)) for devices with limited communications resources, such as machine type communication (MTC) devices and enhanced MTC (eMTC) devices. In one aspect, a UE determines a first configuration of subframes within at least one radio frame available for the UE and other UEs to use for bundled communications with a BS. The UE receives an indication of one or more subframes within the at least one radio frame that are unavailable for bundled uplink transmissions, and determines a second configuration of subframes to use for bundled communications based on the indication. The UE overrides the first configuration of subframes with the second configuration of subframes, and communicates with the BS using the second configuration of subframes. Numerous other aspects are provided.

In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a mode in which the user equipment is enabled, wherein the mode is one of a non-standalone mode, a standalone mode, or a standalone mode and a non-standalone mode; determine whether to prioritize a first set of frequencies associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) or a second set of frequencies associated with a second RAT based at least in part on the mode in which the user equipment is enabled, wherein the first RAT is different from the second RAT; and perform a search of the first set of frequencies or the second set of frequencies based at least in part on whether the first set of frequencies or the second set of frequencies is prioritized. Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for implementing a radio link control (RLC) layer and/or packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer window advance with holes (e.g., one or more missing packets) are provided. One technique includes generating a sequence of packets for transmission to an apparatus. A determination of whether to request the apparatus to at least temporarily ignore missing packets from the sequence is made based on one or more criteria. A message with an indication of the determination is transmitted to the apparatus. The apparatus may receive the sequence of packets, detect missing packets in the sequence, and process the sequence of packets in accordance with the indication in the received message.

Abstract: Capability exchange enhancements include filtering and/or indexing. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines UE capabilities to be reported to a network based on one or more of: one or more enquiries from the network, received system information, a home operator policy, configuration associated with public land mobile network (PLMN) information of one or more networks, a user preference, or a service type. In other aspects, a UE may report a subset of UE capabilities for features used for the connection establishment. Following connection establishment, the UE may use an identifier to communicate a more complete set of modes of operation that the UE is currently capable of performing. Base stations of the network may share the reported subset so that the UE may avoid transmitting the subset to a target base station.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to enhanced compression formats for data compression (e.g., uplink data compression (UDC)). A method is provided for wireless communications. The method generally includes determining one or more blocks of data in a current packet matching one or more blocks of data in one or more portions of one or more previous packets stored in a memory, compressing at least a portion of the current packet based on an enhanced compression format having reduced metadata relative to another compression format to indicate one or more of the matching blocks of data, and transmitting the compressed current packet. Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe transmitting data in wireless communications. A set of packets for transmission in a defined sequence can be received where the set of packets includes two or more packets. It can be detected that a packet, of the set of packets, is a prioritized packet type. The packet can be prioritized for transmission ahead of its order in the defined sequence based on the detection of the prioritized packet type. The packet can be transmitted ahead of its order in the defined sequence to an access point.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for call continuity following radio link failure (RLF) through re-establishment of a voice call using a same or different radio access technology (RAT) before the call is dropped. Upon detection of RLF on a connection supporting a voice call, a UE may initiate a drop call timer and scan for available connections. The voice call may be attempted to be re-established if a connection is available on using a RAT of an existing connection. The voice call in such cases may continue without the call being dropped. Upon expiration of the drop call timer, the UE may attempt to establish a connection using a RAT identified during the duration of the drop call timer.

Abstract: Device-to-device operations are scheduled based on receive and transmit pools that may have a conflict in time domain. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for resolving time domain conflict in device-to-device communication are provided. The apparatus may compute a first block rate metric for a first device-to-device communication on a first frequency and a second block rate metric for a second device-to-device communication on a second frequency. The apparatus may detect a time-domain conflict between the first device-to-device communication on the first frequency and the second device-to-device communication on the second frequency. The apparatus may prioritize the first device-to-device communication on the first frequency and the second device-to-device communication on the second frequency based on the first block rate metric and the second block rate metric.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for inter-RAT mobility from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT, including cases in which different RATs correspond to different generations of networks. Approaches described herein include providing a preemptive indication of inter-RAT mobility for one or more geographic areas such to a user equipment (UE). The UE can thus use a mobility procedure to transition from the first RAT to the second RAT that is supported in the UE's location without first attempting an unsupported mobility procedure, reducing transition latency.
