Abstract: A composition for use in a polymer flooding operation in a viscous oil containing carbonate reservoir formation with in situ rock is provided. The composition includes a polymer, the polymer operable to increase the viscosity of the composition; and a tuned water, the tuned water operable to alter a wettability of the in situ rock, wherein the tuned water has a total dissolved solids of between 5,000 ppm by weight and 7,000 ppm by weight, wherein the total dissolved solids comprises one or more salts; wherein the composition has a viscosity between 4 cP and 100 cP.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a viscosity of a fluid is disclosed. The apparatus includes a Parylene coated quartz tuning fork for immersion in the fluid and an electronic circuit to excite a vibration of the Parylene coated quartz tuning fork and measure one or more vibrational parameters of the Parylene coated quartz tuning fork. A computer processor is configured to determine a non-Newtonian viscosity from the vibration of the Parylene coated quartz tuning fork based, at least in part, on a Stokes flow hydrodynamic model. The computer processor is coupled to a memory for storing a calibration curve to determine a Newtonian viscosity of the fluid from the non-Newtonian viscosity of the fluid.

Abstract: Methods for fabricating a sensor module for detecting carbon dioxide leakage from a subsurface reservoir are disclosed. The methods include attaching anodic aluminum oxide porous membrane onto a first conductive electrode to form an anodic aluminum oxide template; initiating growth of a plurality of TiO2 nanotubes inside the AAO template using an atomic layer deposition process; removing the anodic aluminum oxide template from the first metal electrode leaving the plurality of TiO2 nanotubes on the first conductive electrode; attaching a second conductive electrode to the plurality of TiO2 nanotubes; connecting the first and the second conductive electrodes with an electric line to form a sensor; providing a rollable sheet of non-conductive material; and attaching a plurality of sensors to the rollable sheet of non-conductive material forming the sensor module.
