摘要： A perpendicular magnetic recording medium including a Co-based magnetic recording layer, a substrate supporting the magnetic recording layer, and a perpendicular orientation underlayer placed between the magnetic recording layer and the substrate. The perpendicular orientation underlayer is composed of a Ru—Co alloy with 1-65 at. % of Co. The perpendicular magnetic recording medium can achieve good crystallinity and good magnetic characteristics by having the perpendicular orientation underlayer with a small lattice mismatch for the recording layer.
