A liquid crystal display device of the invention includes a plurality of pixels provided on an insulating substrate, a scanning line provided on the insulating substrate which scans the pixels, liquid crystal which is interposed between the insulating substrate and a counter substrate countered to the insulating substrate, and areas where a voltage to be applied to the liquid crystal varies in one pixel, and is characterized in that a light shielding film for preventing a light leakage due to alignment disorder of the liquid crystal is provided to a boundary portion of the areas where the voltage to be applied to liquid crystal varies.
