The present invention provides a digital camera capable of preventing the occurrence of camera shake, and a control method for a digital camera. Digital image data representing an enlarged image, which is formed by enlarging a predetermined area of an object image by a predetermined scaling factor, is generated. This is based on digital image data representing the object image, and recorded in a recording medium. The enlarged image is displayed on an LCD, and information that instructs whether re-shooting is performed is input via an operation unit. The shutter speed is controlled to be faster by a predetermined speed when the input instruction information instructs to re-shoot.

In a digital camera in which image data produced through a photographing operation is compressed to be written in a memory card, even if a shutter release button is depressed during the recording of the image data in the memory card, the photographing can be immediately achieved. While image data stored in a buffer memory is being compressed to be stored in the memory card, the depression of shutter release button is continuously monitored. If the release button is pressed, the recording operation in the memory card is interrupted to conduct the photographing. After the photographing is finished, the image data for which the recording is interrupted is compressed to be entirely written in the memory card beginning at the start point thereof.

An ultrasonic probe includes a piezoelectric material layer having a pair of electrodes provided on both main surfaces thereof for applying voltage thereto, and a backing material provided on one electrode. The backing material has an acoustic impedance lower than that of the piezoelectric material layer. Interposed between the backing material and one electrode is an acoustic reflecting material layer which has a thick first portion and a thin second portion. The second portion may have a substantially zero thickness to allow the backing material to be in partial contact with one electrode. Thereby, the ultrasonic probe can transmit and receive ultrasonic waves at its resonance frequencies. Also provided is an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which displays an image resultant from combining images having the frequencies obtained by driving the ultrasonic probe.

By supplying via the input means (2) organism signal analysis data unique to an organism to be measured into the measuring means (1), there is conducted a learning operation of the characteristics of the organism signals of the subject. Thereafter, the measurement and analysis of the organism signals are achieved for a long period of time by use of the measuring means (1). The measurement is accomplished after the characteristics of the organism signals of the subject are learned, and hence the reliability is increased. In addition, the realtime measurement and analysis are conducted by the measuring means (1) so as to store only abnormal waveforms, which facilitates the judgement thereof to be conducted by a doctor.

A method and apparatus for ultrasonic measurement in which ultrasonic pulses having a plurality of different frequencies are transmitted into in order to object under investigation and derive a mean value of attenuation coefficients indicative of attenuation within the object, as well as the frequency dependence of the attenuation coefficient. If the frequency dependence of the reflection intensity from the object under investigation is constant or proportional to frequency within a range of measured frequencies, it is possible to obtain the attenuation coefficient and the coefficient indicative of its frequency dependence within a small area of the object by measuring the echo intensity of emitted ultrasonic pulses having three different frequencies. Furthermore, extending the above-mentioned processing over all small areas of the entire object enables obtaining a two-dimensional distribution image indicative of the attenuation coefficient and its frequency dependence.
