    摘要: A projector has an illumination system, an electro-optical modulator, a projection optical system, and a scanning system. The illumination system has a light source, a first lens array, a second lens array, a polarization conversion element and a superposing lens. The polarization conversion element includes a polarized light separating element and a phase plate. The polarized light separating element includes a plurality of polarized light separating prisms each of which has a polarized light separating surface and a reflection surface. The plurality of polarized light separating prisms are arranged along the one direction, and polarized light separating surfaces in the polarized light separating prisms at both ends of the polarized light separating element in one direction are constituted so as to reflect the luminous flux involving the second polarized light component in a direction approaching the illumination optical axis.

    摘要: A projector includes: a light source device that emits substantially parallel illumination light; a first lens array having a plurality of first small lenses each of which divides the illumination light coming from the light source device into a plurality of partial light fluxes; a second lens array having a plurality of second small lenses corresponding to the first small lenses; a superposing optical system that superposes the partial light fluxes coming from the second lens array on regions to be illuminated; a color-separating and guiding optical system that separates the lights coming from the second lens array into lights in a plurality of different colors and guides the separated lights to the regions to be illuminated; a plurality of electro-optical modulation devices each of which modulates the light in the corresponding color of the lights in the plural colors separated by the color-separating and guiding optical system in accordance with image information; a color synthesizing optical system that synthesizes the lights in the respective colors modulated by the plural electro-optical modulation devices; and a projecting optical system that projects image light produced by the color synthesizing optical system. The superposing optical system has a first superposing lens disposed between the second lens array and the color-separating and guiding optical system and a second superposing lens having a convex lens included in the color-separating and guiding optical system.

    摘要: A projector that includes: an illumination device; an electro-optic modulator that modulates a luminous flux coming from the illumination device in accordance with image information; and a projection optical system that projects a light modulated by the electro-optic modulator. The illumination device is provided with: a light source device that emits a substantially parallel luminous flux to the side of a region to be illuminated; a first lens array including a plurality of first small lenses that divide the luminous flux coming from the light source device into a plurality of partial luminous fluxes; a second lens array including a plurality of second small lenses corresponding to the first small lenses of the first lens array; and a superimposing lens that superimposes, in the region to be illuminated, the partial luminous fluxes coming from the second small lenses of the second lens array. In the projector, each first small lens in the first lens array have a plane shape compressed in a direction which is either vertical or horizontal direction of the image formation region of the electro-optic modulator to make the luminous flux coming from the illumination device entirely illuminate an image formation region of the electro-optic modulator in the other direction thereof, and partially illuminate the image formation region in the one direction. The projector further includes: a light shielding member that is disposed between the illumination device and the electro-optic modulator to be substantially optically conjugate with the plurality of first small lenses and the electro-optic modulator for adjusting the cross section shape of the luminous flux; and a rotating prism that is disposed on the side of the electro-optic modulator of the light shielding member for scanning, on the image formation region of the electro-optic modulator, the luminous flux coming from the light shielding member along the one direction in synchronization with a frame rate of the electro-optic modulator. The light shielding member is provided with a stray light elimination member that reflects a reflection light from a light incident surface of the rotating prism in a direction different from the rotating prism.

The arc-tube drive unit can drive the arc tube with an alternating current so that, of the pair of electrodes of the arc tube, the brightness of a first luminescent point generated in the vicinity of a first electrode adjacent to the auxiliary mirror is lower than the brightness of a second luminescent point generated in the vicinity of a second electrode remote from the auxiliary mirror.
