    Abstract: The invention provides a fixing structure having an inner wall forming a through hole around a central axis and a first rib protruded from the inner wall toward the central axis along a radial direction of the through hole with an extending direction parallel to an axial direction of the central axis, and a projection apparatus including an illumination system, a light valve, and a projection lens. The illumination system includes the fixing structure, an optical device, and a light source illuminating the optical device to form an illumination beam. The optical device is placed in the through hole and interfered by the first rib to be fixed in the through hole. The light valve is located on a transmission path of the illumination beam and converts it into an image beam. The projection lens is located on a transmission path of the image beam and projects the image beam.

    Abstract: An illumination device including: a light source (11) configured to emit source light; a fluorescence generating unit (16,18) configured to generate fluorescent light by use of the source light from the light source (11) as excitation light; a wavelength selecting unit ((13) configured to alternately place either a first segment or a second segment in a light path, the first segment allowing the source light to pass therethrough, and the second segment reflecting the source light while allowing the fluorescent light to pass therethrough; a polarization converting unit (14) configured to convert polarization of light between linear polarization and circular polarization; and a light guiding unit (15, 17) configured to guide a first linear polarization component and the fluorescent light to the polarization converting unit (14) and to guide a second linear polarization component to the fluorescence generating unit (16, 18). The object is to downsize an illumination device.

    Abstract: Projector display systems comprising a light dimmer and first modulator are disclosed. The light dimmer may comprise an adjustable iris, adjustable light sources and/or LCD stack that is capable of lowering the luminance of the light source illuminated the first modulator. The first modulator may comprise a plurality of analog mirrors (e.g. MEMS array) and the second modulator may comprise a plurality of mirrors (e.g., DMD array). The display system may further comprise a controller that sends control signals to the light dimmer and first modulator. The display system may render a desired dynamic range for rendering a projected image by a combination of such control signals.

    Abstract: A simple optical projection device with a high luminous efficacy has a point light source, a projection screen, a mask that is arranged in the light path upstream of the projection screen and is light-transmissive in some areas, and a light focusing optical lens arranged between the point light source and the mask. The optical lens is selected such that the prolongations of the emerging beams of the optical lens on the side thereof facing the point light source intersect in a virtual perspective center which is more remote from the lens than the point light source.
