摘要: A display device has a driver including a level converter formed of polysilicon MISTFTs. The level converter includes first, second and third N-channel MISTFTs (NMISTFTs) and first, second and third P-channel MISTFTs (PMISTFTs). Gate and first terminals of the first NMISTFT and PMISTFT, and a gate terminal of the third PMISTFT are coupled to an input terminal via a capacitance. Second terminals of the second NMISTFT and PMISTFT, and a gate terminal of third NMISTFT are coupled to the input terminal via a capacitance. A first terminal of the third PMISTFT, and second terminals of the first NMISTFT and PMISTFT are coupled to a high voltage. A second terminal of the third NMISTFT, gate and first terminals of the second NMISTFT and PMISTFT are coupled to a low voltage. A second terminal of the third PMISTFT and a first terminal of the third NMISTFT are connected to an output terminal.

摘要: An inverter includes an input inverter having a high-resistance load and a first transistor and an output buffer including second and third transistors coupled in series. A power supply voltage is provided to satisfy an inequality VDD1>VDD2+Vth where VDD1 is the power supply voltage of the input inverter, VDD2 is the power supply voltage of the output buffer, and Vth is the threshold voltage of the transistors. Use of the high-resistance load allows an output waveform to rise and fall quickly, as well as reduces current consumption.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device that includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal material sandwiched between the first and second substrates. In the device, the first substrate includes an active element, a first insulation film formed above the active element, a first electrode formed above the first insulation film, a second insulation film formed above the first electrode, and a second electrode formed above the second insulation film. The second insulation film is a coating insulation film, the first insulation film has a first contact hole, the second insulation film is formed between the first and second electrodes, and inside of the first contact hole, the second insulation film formed inside of the first contact hole is formed with a second contact hole, the second electrode is a pixel electrode, the second electrode is electrically connected to the active element via the second contact hole, and a retention capacity is formed by the first and second electrodes and the second insulation film. The resulting liquid crystal display device of such a configuration causes no short circuit in a height-different portion between electrodes formed on both sides of an insulation film.

摘要: There is disclosed a transflective liquid crystal display device having reflective portions having an improved contrast ratio. At each subpixel of the display device, a pixel electrode is shared between transmissive and reflective portions. Independent counter electrodes are used respectively for the transmissive and reflective portions. Different potentials are applied to the counter electrodes for the transmissive and reflective portions. The transmissive portion operates in normally black mode. That is, the transmissive portion displays black when no voltage is applied. The reflective portion operates in normally white mode. That is, the reflective portion displays white when no voltage is applied. The liquid crystal layer in the reflective portion is thicker than the liquid crystal layer in the transmissive portion.

摘要: A shift register circuit has a plurality of shift pulse generation circuits, and a scanning voltage generation circuit has a plurality of base circuits. The base circuits are presented with a first shift pulse generated by a shift pulse generation circuit, and a scanning line clock. The base circuits have a first transistor in which the first shift pulse is input to a first electrode, and a first power supply voltage is input to a control electrode; and a second transistor in which a control electrode is connected to a second electrode in the first transistor, a scanning line clock is input to the first electrode, and the second electrode is connected to a scanning voltage output terminal. The base circuits output a selected scanning voltage synchronized with the scanning line clock from the scanning voltage output terminal when the first shift pulse is at a first voltage level.
