摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a charge roller rotatable in contact with the surface of an image carrier to thereby charge the surface. The charged surface of the image carrier is exposed imagewise for forming a latent image. A developing device develops the latent image to thereby form a corresponding toner image. The toner image is transferred to a recording sheet. The charge roller is formed of a core and an elastic body affixed to the periphery of the core. Stearic acid to be added to rubber, which is the major component of the elastic body, is selected to be 1 wt % or less. An AC current value to be applied to the core is selected to be 1.1 mA or less. The image carrier is free from defective charging ascribable to impurities to deposit on the charge roller.

The cleaning member includes a support plate having a planar face portion configured to be fixed to an object in a position adjacent to the image carrier, a plurality of reinforcement features configured to reinforce a strength of the support plate, at least one of the reinforcement features arranged on the planar face portion, and a blade connecting portion arranged on the planar face portion. The cleaning member further includes an elastic blade member connected to the blade connecting portion of the support plate such that the elastic blade extends toward the image carrier when the support plate is fixed to the object. The image cleaner may be positioned within an image forming apparatus or an image developing cartridge.

摘要： An image forming apparatus capable of obviating a defective image ascribable to image transfer and an image forming unit therefor are disclosed. A nonconductive sheet member is affixed to the surface of a conductive sheet member which will face a paper or similar recording medium, and protects the paper from the influence of a bias applied to the conductive sheet member. The paper is therefore free from a charge different in polarity from a transfer bias, so that toner is prevented from scattering toward the paper.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member to form a toner image thereupon. A transfer device is positioned adjacent to the image bearing member to transfer the toner image formed on a surface of the image bearing member onto a surface of a recording medium. A cleaning device cleans the surface of the image bearing member by removing remaining toner on the surface of the image bearing member after the toner image has been transferred onto the recording medium. A fixing device is provided in an upper part of the image forming apparatus to fix the toner image transferred onto the surface of the recording medium when the recording medium passes through the fixing device. An open/close member is rotatably supported by a main body of the image forming apparatus and opens and closes a recording medium conveying path between the transfer device and the fixing device. And, a shutter is movably supported to move between a protecting position to cover a part of the surface of the image bearing member facing the outside of the image forming apparatus when the open/close member is opened and a retreating position to open the part of the surface of the image bearing member when the open/close member is closed. The retreating position of the shutter is set in a space between the image bearing member and the fixing device and the shutter is movably supported by the main body of the image forming apparatus such that the shutter moves with a first face of the shutter continuously facing the image bearing member when the shutter moves between the protecting position and the retreating position.

摘要： An image bearing member utilized in an image forming apparatus includes a cylindrical member on which an image is formed on a peripheral surface thereof. An image bearing member further includes a filling-up member which suppresses vibration of the cylindrical member by being inserted into an inner part of the cylindrical member, and an anaerobic adhesive which adheres and fixes an outer peripheral surface of the filling-up member to an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical member by osmosing into a clearance formed between the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical member and the outer peripheral surface of the filling-up member. The anaerobic adhesive is placed inside of an end face of at least one side of the outer peripheral surface of the filling-up member, and an adhesion width is formed wherein the anaerobic adhesive is spread around an entire periphery of the outer peripheral surface of the filling-up member from an end face of the filling-up member. The adhesive can be hardened by use of ultraviolet rays or a lid. Furthermore, gas can be sealed in the inner part of the cylindrical member. A method for manufacturing an image bearing member for an image forming apparatus includes vertically positioning a filling-up member inside a cylindrical member, injecting an anaerobic adhesive between the filling-up member and the cylindrical member, and hardening the anaerobic adhesive after the anaerobic adhesive has osmosed into the clearance between the cylindrical member and the filling-up member.

The switch mechanism includes a switch disposed in the body and a cam disposed beside the switch for activating the switch when rotated in a prescribed direction. The switch mechanism further includes a lever with one end supported by the body cover while another end contacts and rotates the cam by a prescribed constant amount of a rotational angle when the body cover is closed.
