    摘要: A polarization conversion optical system converts light having a nonuniform plane of polarization into light having a uniform plane of polarization. The system includes a multilayer dielectric film at the side upon which the target light is incident. The film exhibits the property that it reflects one polarized component of the light and transmits a second polarized component of the light at a first angle of incidence, but transmits the first component at a second angle of incidence. Incident target light that is transmitted through the film at the first angle of incidence passes through a quarter-wavelength plate and is reflected at the second angle, whereupon it is retransmitted through the quarter-wavelength plate to be converted from one plane of polarization to the other. It is then emitted from the dielectric film in the same plane of polarization as light reflected by the film.

    摘要: An optical scanner having a simple structure in which the light quantities of a plurality of light beams are not varied by differences in polarization direction among the light beams. The optical scanner scans a surface by means of a plurality of light beams in which the polarization direction of at least one of the light beams is different from the polarization directions of the other light beams. An optical element having a surface with a reflectance for s-polarized light and a reflectance for p-polarized light that are substantially the same at a given incident angle is provided in the optical paths of the light beams.

When solar light enters an optical element (OE), light (L1) in a short wavelength band among the solar light is reflected by a dielectric multilayer film (DF). Other light (L2) in longer wavelength bands are passed through the dielectric multilayer film (DF), then a base material (SS), and reflected by a metal deposition film (MV) to pass through the base material (SS) and the dielectric multilayer film (DF). Thus, high reflectance in a wide band is ensured.

    摘要: A manufacturing method of a wavelength conversion element suppresses the changes of the chromaticities among wavelength conversion elements. The manufacturing method of the wavelength conversion element including a glass substrate and a ceramic layer in which a phosphor is dispersed is disclosed. The manufacturing method includes the step of preparing a mixture containing a ceramic precursor, a solvent, and the phosphor, which mixture has viscosity within a range of from 10 cp to 1000 cp, the step of coating the mixture onto at least one surface of a glass substrate, the step of baking the mixture to form the ceramic layer, and the step of dicing the glass substrate and the ceramic layer after the baking.

    摘要: On the surface of a plastic base, there are formed, from the base side, an adhesion layer, a reflective layer formed mainly of Ag, and a protective layer formed of a light-transmitting dielectric layer. The adhesion layer is formed of a layer of a mixture of aluminum oxide and lanthanum oxide, and is given a thickness in the range from 10 nm to 120 nm. To further enhance the adhesion between the base and the Ag layer, and to surely prevent entry of moisture or the like from the base into the Ag layer, the mix proportion of lanthanum oxide in the adhesion layer is preferably kept in the range from 60% to 80% by weight.
