The environment can contain an antenna for communicating with any mobile devices within the environment and a receiver component configured to receive information from any contacted mobile device.     摘要: A method and system automatically activates a mobile station in a wireless communications network. The system includes an over the air activation function (OTAF) processor in the network that initiates an activation process in response to receiving a registration message from a mobile switching center serving the mobile station requesting the activation. Each mobile station has a unit of information stored into it at the time of its manufacture to enable it to request over the air activation. That unit of information is either the network routing address of the OTAF processor, or alternately, it is a value that is translatable into that address, either an OTAF ID number that is the same value for every mobile station or it is a sequentially serialized dummy value for the mobile identification number (a dummy MIN). When the mobile station is turned on for the first time in the network, it requests activation over the air by transmitting to the local mobile switching center a registration order. The registration order will include one of the three alternative forms of the information unit described above, either the routing address of the OTAF processor, or the OTAF ID number, or a dummy MIN.

For example, a broadcast control channel (BCCH) transmission may be received by one or more mobile devices, the transmission comprising a set of instructions to program the mobile devices. The BCCH transmission may be used to program certain mobile devices, such as a type or brand of device, or mobile devices having certain features, such as call waiting. The mobile device may be configured to accept a transmission, such as a packet in a GPRS network, on one channel while rejecting a transmission on other channels. Further, the mobile device may be reconfigured to accept additional channel transmissions or reject currently approved channel transmissions.

    摘要: An active call between two parties can be marked as a non-preemptable call if one of the two parties is an authorized agency that desires to prevent premature termination of the call by a third party. The authorized agency sends a signal to a main switch to indicate that non-preemptable call status is desired. The newly established call status is then propagated to other nodes in the system to prevent premature call termination. Non-preemptable status can also be granted to some calls based on the destination of the called number, such as in 911 calls.

    摘要: A third generation (3G) mobile communication system supports an over-the-air activation scheme utilizing a wireless packet data protocol. A subscriber identity module (SIM) is preloaded with temporary operating parameters such as a temporary international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) that is used for initial access to a network. Once a packet data protocol communication link is established between the mobile device and a network support node, the user may remotely subscribe to a number of service terms using the mobile device. In addition, an activation procedure is carried out to assign permanent operating parameters, e.g., a permanent IMSI, to the SIM. After activation, the user can remotely modify existing terms or remotely enroll in additional service features via a wireless IP link between the mobile device and a network support node.
