Abstract: Medical devices can perform a plurality of functions, such as sensing, monitoring, deriving and/or calculating various physiological statuses of a patient (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, respiration rate, etc.). Medical devices can also be used to image part or all of a patient's body, to deliver a treatment, or to manage information related to a patient's care. The present disclosure is directed at one or more devices that perform these functions using a plurality of processing circuits, wherein each processing circuit has a timing circuit with a local clock. These processing circuits can be connected via a network, and each timing circuit can communicate with at least one other timing circuit in order to detect and correct time-differences between their local clocks. In this way, multiple processing circuits can be synchronized with each other to facilitate diagnosis or treatment of a patient's condition, or other aspects of a patient's care.

Abstract: A system for managing care of a person receiving emergency cardiac assistance includes one or more capacitors arranged to deliver a defibrillating shock to a person; one or more electronic ports for receiving a plurality of signals from sensors for obtaining indications of an electrocardiogram (ECG) for the person; and a patient treatment module executable on one or more computer processors using code stored in non-transitory media and to provide a determination of a likelihood of success from delivering a future defibrillating shock to the person with the one or more capacitors, using a mathematical computation applied to a vector value defined by signals from at least two of the plurality of signals.

Abstract: An external medical device includes at least one therapy electrode configured to be disposed on a patient; and a treatment manager configured to execute a baseline process to determine at least one of a range of values for a discomfort parameter and a patient discomfort threshold value corresponding to the at least one pacing routine, detect a cardiac condition of the patient, execute the at least one pacing routine, the at least one pacing routine being associated with the cardiac condition, monitor the discomfort parameter during execution of the at least one pacing routine, determine whether the discomfort parameter transgresses the at least one of the range of values and the patient discomfort threshold value, and adjust at least one characteristic of the at least one pacing routine upon the discomfort parameter transgressing the at least one of the range of values and the patient discomfort threshold value.

Abstract: A system includes a first computing device comprising a processor coupled to a memory. The processor and the memory are configured to receive at least one of (i) information indicative of treatment of a victim by a first caregiver using the first computing device and (ii) information indicative of a health status of the victim; determine that treatment of the victim by the first caregiver using the first computing device is completed; and transmit the received information to a second computing device.

Abstract: A medical ventilation monitoring system is provided. The system includes: a patient ventilation unit defining an airflow path, and arranged so that when the unit is applied to a patient, the airflow path is in fluid communication with the patient's airway. The patient ventilation unit includes: an airflow sensor positioned to sense the presence of ventilation airflow to or from the patient and a communication link. The system also includes at least one processor arranged to communicate with the ventilation unit by the communication link. The at least one processor is configured to: provide an initial treatment protocol for providing care to the patient, receive data regarding a current condition of the patient from the ventilation unit, and determine an updated treatment protocol. The updated treatment protocol includes applying ventilation at an updated ventilation volume or at an updated ventilation rate based on information from the airflow sensor.
