Abstract: In one embodiment, tie-down assembly is provided for securing a parked aircraft to a slab of an aircraft mooring area. The assembly includes a support structure having a first side wall, a second side wall, a first end cover coupled with the first side wall and the second side wall, and a second end cover coupled with the first side wall and the second side wall. The assembly also includes a connector rod coupled with the first side wall and the second side wall, a talon pivot rod coupled with the first side wall and the second side wall, a first talon rotatably coupled with the talon pivot rod, a second talon rotatably coupled with the talon pivot rod, a first depth adjustment mechanism coupled with the first talon, and a second depth adjustment mechanism coupled with the second talon.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of removing a substance from a solution by adsorption includes: interfacing a delivery component containing a quantity of amine functionalized chitin (AFC) compound as an adsorbent AFC compound with the solution containing the substance as an adsorbate substance; mixing the adsorbent AFC compound and the adsorbate substance in the solution for a period of time; and removing a mixture of the adsorbent AFC compound and at least a portion of the adsorbate substance from the solution.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for securing wireless data communication. The system includes a launcher and a projectile. The launcher has a random number generator, a launcher memory, a launcher encryption/decryption module, and a launcher transceiver. The projectile has a projectile memory, a projectile encryption/decryption module, and a projectile transceiver. Both the launcher encryption/decryption module and the projectile encryption/decryption module are configured to use the one-time pad to encrypt and to decrypt data. The system is configured to establish a temporary datalink at a point in time in which the projectile and the launcher are substantially collocated so that the one-time pad can be transmitted from random number generator located in the launcher to the projectile memory using the temporary datalink.

Abstract: The present invention is a system for repairing asphalt. The system includes a discrete quantity of an asphalt repair composition located within a container and an induction heater. The composition is a combination of an asphalt binder, aggregate particles, and induction particles. The average diameter of the induction particles ranges from approximately 10% above to approximately 10% below an average diameter of the aggregate particles used in the composition. The induction heater heats the composition within the container by generating a magnetic field that penetrates the container. The magnetic field creates eddy currents in the induction particles. These eddy currents in turn heat the composition. Because the induction particles are distributed throughout the composition, the composition heats rapidly.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system of PFAS (Per-Poly-fluorinated alkyl substances) effluent liquid treatment includes: a pump to pump a liquid received via an intake; a sediment filter to filter sediment from the liquid; a granular activated carbon (GAC) device, disposed downstream of the sediment filter, to remove organic contaminants from the liquid; one (preferably two) or more ion exchange resin columns, disposed downstream of the GAC device, to remove PFAS constituents from the liquid; and a plurality of control valves being controlled to direct the liquid to flow along one or more liquid flow paths through the ion exchange resin columns so as to adjust a rate of processing the liquid by the ion exchange resin columns. Directing the flow takes into consideration factors including any minimum rate of processing, any maximum amount of waste generation, and any target remaining PFAS contamination in the liquid after processing.

Abstract: A method for generating an augmented set of images involves data collection, data processing, and data augmentation processing performed to merge images. The data collection comprises the steps of choosing objects as selected objects, choosing configurations for imaging of the selected objects, and taking pictures with a second camera to create a set of raw object images. The data processing comprises the steps of performing dynamic range adjustment on the raw object image, performing color correction for corrected images, and removing uniform background from the corrected images to result in object images. The data augmentation processing performed to merge images comprises the steps of performing range simulation or magnification for resampled images, adding blur to the resampled images, adding noise to create final object images, and merging the final object images to the field images of a first camera to create a set of augmented images.
