摘要: Systems and methods for performing a Control Plane Triggered (CPT) Optical Protection Switching (OPS) policy are provided. A method, according to one implementation, includes performing a first route switching procedure for switching routes between an originating node and a terminating node. The first route switching procedure is configured to operate at a first priority level according to an Optical Protection Switching (OPS) policy. The method also includes performing a second route switching procedure for switching routes between the originating node and the terminating node. The second route switching procedure is configured to operate at a second priority level according to a second protection policy, wherein the second priority level is higher than the first priority level. Also, the method includes reverting back to a home path according to the first route switching procedure after one or more faults, defects, or degradations have been cleared from the home path.

Additional embodiments can include providing, over the communication network, the first group of values for the first parameter to the user interface as the first sample data. The user interface presents the first group of values for the first parameter as the first sample data on a display. Other embodiments are disclosed.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for utilizing polarization parameters obtained from an optical network to determine vibrations in optical fibers using coherent optics equipment and machine learning techniques. A method, according to one implementation, includes the step of obtaining a time-series dataset that includes measurements of polarization characteristics of light traversing an optical fiber of an optical network. The method also includes the step of detecting vibration characteristics of the optical fiber based on the time-series dataset. In some implementations, the time-series dataset may be a multi-variate dataset and the polarization characteristics may be related to transients in a State of Polarization (SOP). The SOP, for example, may be represented by an amplitude and a phase of an electric field vector and may be defined as having one of a linear polarization, elliptical polarization, and circular polarization.

A method, according to one implementation, includes receiving measured optical performance parameters of a plurality of optical channels transmitted over an optical spectrum between two network elements in an optical line system; determining a performance profile of the optical spectrum based on the measured optical performance parameters; translating the performance profile into configuration information for the two network elements; and causing provisioning of the two network elements based on the configuration information. The measured optical performance parameters are for one or more unassigned optical channels on the optical spectrum, with the measured optical performance parameters being made on one or more optical modems.

An impedance associated with a first electric field distribution between the inner electrode and a first of the outer electrodes is substantially equal to an impedance associated with a second electric field distribution between the inner electrode and a second of the outer electrodes.

摘要: An optical modulator includes a waveguide core; a first transition zone located between a first side of the waveguide core and a first electrical contact region; and a second transition zone located between a second side of the waveguide core and a second electrical contact region, wherein one or more of the first transition zone and second transition zone has a variable thickness. The variable thickness is confined to the one or more of the first transition zone and second transition zone.
