摘要: A Free-form contact lens and method of making the same. The lens includes a posterior optical quality surface having a concave shape, an opposing anterior surface having a convex shape both of which join at a lens edge that defines an outer periphery of the contact lens, and at least a first lens feature having a predetermined shape and made of a first polymerized Reactive Mixture. The remainder of the lens is made of a second polymerized Reactive Mixture that is different than the first polymerized Reactive Mixture, and that is covalently bonded thereto.

摘要: The present invention relates to compositions comprising at least one stable, near-monodisperse, non-reactive hydrophilic polymer comprising in said polymer's backbone, a hydrophilic segment having a degree of polymerization of about 10 to about 1000, and a linear silicone segment at at least one terminal end of said non-reactive hydrophilic polymer, wherein said silicone segment comprises between about 6 and about 200 siloxy units, and said non-reactive hydrophilic polymer is associated, via the linear silicone block with a silicone hydrogel. The non-reactive hydrophilic polymers may be incorporated into the formulation from which the silicone hydrogel is made or may be contacted with the silicone hydrogel post formation.

摘要: A molded contact lens comprising a stiffer optic zone relative to the peripheral zone of the contact lens provides an optical element for correcting astigmatism without the need for or substantially minimizing the need for the correction of rotational misalignment. The higher elastic modulus optic zone vaults over the cornea thereby allowing a tear lens to form. The tear lens follows or assumes the shape of the back surface of the contact lens. The combination of the tear lens and the optical zone provide an optical element for correction of refractive error.

摘要: Various non-limiting embodiments of the present disclosure relate to ophthalmic devices comprising photochromic materials comprising a reactive substituent. For example, the present disclosure contemplates ophthalmic devices comprising photochromic materials, such as photochromic naphthopyrans and indeno-fused naphthopyrans having a reactive substituent comprising a reactive moiety linked to the photochromic naphthopyran by one or more linking groups. In certain non-limiting embodiments, the reactive moiety comprises a polymerizable moiety. In other non-limiting embodiments, the reactive moiety comprises a nucleophilic moiety. Other non-limiting embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods of making the photochromic ophthalmic device, wherein the photochromic ophthalmic devices comprise the photochromic naphthopyrans described herein.

摘要: Translating contact lenses which are truncated for correcting presbyopia and whose design is optimized to maximize translation ability while maintaining comfort when the lens is worn on eye. Truncation of the lenses results in a non-round geometry while still retaining under-lid residency in select portions of the lens itself. Maximum thickness and back surface radius of curvature along with ramp shape can be optimized individually or in combination to maximize translation of the lens relative to the eye, when the lens is positioned on eye.

摘要: The packages described by this invention all have reduced “head space,” that is, the distance from lid to lens. Packages contain dimples to achieve this reduced head space. Specifically, packages are designed with dimple sag equal to or less than 1.90-mm, or volume displaced equal to or less than 360 μl. Combined with the existing primary packaging, it has been found that such conditions provide for reduction in folded lens rate during shipping and handling. As well, lenses stored or having an extended time in low head space packages in a “foil down” orientation now have characteristics closer lenses stored in a “foil up orientation”.

摘要: Contact lenses incorporate multifocal power profiles that at least one of slow, retard or preventing myopia progression. The lens includes a first zone at a center of the ophthalmic lens and at least one peripheral zone surrounding the first zone. The at least one peripheral zone has a different width and dioptric power than the first zone. The first zone and at least one peripheral zone are stepped or discontinuous. The multifocal power profile has substantially equivalent foveal vision correction to a single vision lens and has a depth of focus and reduced retinal image quality sensitivity that slows, retards, or prevents myopia progression.
