Abstract: The presently disclosed technology provides a threat-specific network risk evaluation tailored to a client's security objectives. The present technology may include identifying a plurality of threats to a first component of a networked system and assigning a plurality of weighting values to the plurality of threats according to the client's security objectives. The present technology may include identifying a plurality of vulnerabilities of the first component and determining a set of relevant threats for the first vulnerability based on the nature of the vulnerability and the weighting values assigned to the plurality of threats. The set of relevant threats includes one or more of the plurality of threats. The present technology may include determining a set of relevant threats for each of the identified vulnerabilities of the first component and calculating a risk of the first component based on the sets of the relevant threats.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to the method of generating human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) from patients with either heterozygous deletion of the FOX2A gene or GLUT2 (SLC2A2) gene mutations. The methods disclosed herein generate human cell models for diabetes, Fanconi Bickel Syndrome (FBS), dysmporphic features, growth hormone deficiency, central hypothyroidism, and related disorders. The methods disclosed herein generate patient-specific iPSC cell lines that could be used by researchers to perform mechanistic studies, drug screening, and understanding the role of GLUT2 or FOXA2 in specific human cell types.

For example, A is Li, Na, K, Cs, Rb, Mg, Ca and/or combinations thereof. M is Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, Cr, V, Ti, Cu and/or combinations thereof. R is a C1-C5 alkyl group; e.g., CH2, C2H4, or C3H6, The complex transition metal phosphonates can be used as cathode or anode materials for rechargeable batteries.

Abstract: The combined acid gas removal and water filtration system (10) removes sour gases, such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2), from an input gaseous hydrocarbon stream (FG), as well as producing purified water (TW). The acid gas removal system (10) has a contactor (12) for contacting the input gaseous stream (FG) with an absorption liquid solvent (ALS), and a stripper (24) for recycling the absorption liquid solvent (ALS) and removing acidic gases (AG) therefrom. A first heat exchanger (22) heats used absorption liquid solvent (UALS) output from the contactor (12) prior to injection into the stripper (24). A second heat exchanger (26) cools recycled absorption liquid solvent (RALS) using a refrigerant (R) before injection back into the contactor (12). The refrigerant (R) is coupled with an absorber (84), which receives a dilute ethanolic draw solution (DDS) from a forward osmosis filtration system (72), producing purified water (TW).

Abstract: New formulation for pyrite scale removal from oil and gas wells and a method of pyrite scale removal are disclosed. The chemical formulation is composed of K2B4O7-4H2O, in a concentration of about 9-20 wt. % of the composition, preferably about 14 wt. % of the composition. The new formulation has the ability to dissolve pyrite without generation of the toxic H2S. Furthermore, the new formulation is cheaper and has very low corrosion rate compare to 15 wt. % HCl with corrosion inhibitor. The disclose method uses the disclosed new formulation to dissolve iron sulphide scale, performed at about 100-150° C. and about 500-2000 psi.

Abstract: A method of removing barium from a liquid includes adding a two-dimensional metal carbide water contaminant adsorbent to water to adsorb contaminants, such as barium (II), from the liquid. The two-dimensional metal carbide water contaminant adsorbent is in the form of at least one MXene, having the formula Mn+1Xn, where n=1, 2 or 3, M is an early transition metal, such as scandium (Sc), titanium (Ti), vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), yttrium (Y), zirconium (Zr), niobium (Nb), molybdenum (Mo) or the like, and X is either carbon or nitrogen. The MXene may be Ti3C2. The liquid may be, for example, at least one water by-product from at least one oilfield reservoir, such as produced water, co-produced water or a combination thereof.

Abstract: We provide a method of compressing a data stream for transmission, including: generating a data sequence representing a received data stream, generating a plurality of data substreams, each comprising a portion of the data sequence, identifying a formal concept defining a dependency between a first one of the data substreams and one or more further ones of the data substreams that are dependent on the first data substream, removing those dependent data substreams from the plurality of data substreams, and transmitting the remaining data substreams, and a method of reconstructing a data stream at a receiver, including: receiving a received data sequence representing a received data stream, identifying that a substream has been removed from the data stream prior to transmission, identifying a formal concept definition for regenerating the removed substream based on an identified substream of the received data sequence, regenerating a data substream using the formal concept definition and the identified substream of the received data sequence, and adding the regenerated data substream to the received data sequence.

Abstract: The antimicrobial agent includes at least one two-dimensional metal carbide layer. The two-dimensional metal carbide has the formula Tin+1CnTx, where T represents a terminal functional group and x represents the number of terminal functional groups. The two-dimensional metal carbide is preferably Ti3C2Tx. The terminating group may be oxygen, hydroxide (OH), fluorine or combinations thereof. The antimicrobial agent may be used as a two-dimensional metal carbide antimicrobial membrane (10) or filter for removal of harmful bacteria, such as E. coli and B. subtilis. A stack of two-dimensional metal carbide layers (14) may be supported on a polymer filter substrate (12), such as a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) supporting substrate.
