    摘要: A vehicle instrument cluster lens assembly for achieving a desired smoked lens effect in a vehicle instrument panel includes a first layer having an associated polarizing orientation for transforming incident light into polarized light having a first orientation that corresponds to the polarizing orientation. A second layer receives the polarized light and shifts the first orientation of the polarized light to a second orientation that is different than the first orientation. A surface receives the polarized light from the second layer and at least partially reflects the polarized light in a direction toward the second layer. The second layer shifts the second orientation of the polarized light to a third orientation that is different from the polarizing orientation of the first layer to prevent the polarized light from being transmitted to a vehicle occupant.

    摘要: A permanent magnet DC motor 10 having electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression includes a metal motor housing 12 and a brush card assembly 34. The brush card assembly includes brushes 20 and leads 24 constructed and arranged to be coupled with a source of power to power the motor. A brush card housing 14 has a first portion 18 housing the brushes and a second portion 22, integral with the first portion, and housing the leads. A printed circuit board 26 is mounted with respect to the second portion of the housing and carries at least one electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression component 30 constructed and arranged to suppress EMI generated by the motor. The leads are electrically connected to the printed circuit board so that current can be provided through the printed circuit board to the brushes. A contact member 40 is electrically connected between the printed circuit board and the metal motor housing so that the at least one EMI suppression component couples the brushes to the metal motor housing thereby causing the metal motor housing to become an AC ground and EMI shield.

    摘要: A crash detection system (22) includes a controller (26) that communicates with a plurality of sensors (28, 30, 32). The controller uses a difference between a sensor velocity value and a threshold to discriminate between a roll-over and at least one other type of crash or impact event. If a difference between a sensor velocity and the threshold exceeds the threshold, the controller subtracts that difference from an acceleration influence of a roll-over algorithm to avoid processing sensor data as if a roll-over were happening when, in fact, the event is a different type of crash or impact.

    摘要: A fuel injector includes a housing, a passageway, a coil assembly, a seat, and a closure member. The housing extends along a longitudinal axis between an inlet and an outlet, and fuel flows through the passageway from the inlet to the outlet. The coil assembly is disposed proximate the inlet of the housing, and the seat is disposed proximate the outlet of the housing. The closure member is disposed in the housing and is movable along the longitudinal axis between a first position, which prohibits fuel flow, and a second position, which permits fuel flow. The closure member includes a magnetic member, a needle, and a tubular member. The magnetic member is adapted to cooperate with the coil assembly to move the closure member from the first position to the second position. The needle member occludes the seat in the first position of the closure member. The tubular member couples the magnetic member to the needle member, and defines a portion of the passageway. The tubular member extends between a first end, which defines a first opening, and second end, which defines a second opening. A portion of the first opening is aligned with the second opening such that fuel flow between the first and second openings is along a flow path that is parallel to the longitudinal axis.

    摘要: A method of localizing the location of a received signal from a tire pressure sensor includes sending an AM identification signal. The AM signal is adjusted for speed such that the frequency of the signal equals a constant multiplied by the speed of the vehicle. Each of the tire locations on a vehicle have an expected sequence of black-out points in the signal received by a receiver at any point on the vehicle. That is, given a particular vehicle design, the AM signal described above would be received at a receiver with an expected sequence of received peaks and black-out points. Since the frequency of the signal is adjusted for speed, the received signal will accurately allow the location of black-out points to be utilized to identify the tire location for a particular signal.

The bushing structure includes a generally cylindrical bushing member 12 constructed and arranged to engage an end of the shaft so as to locate the shaft with respect to the housing and to prevent lockup of the motor. An endplay member 20 is associated with the bushing member and with the end of the shaft. The endplay member includes a spherical portion constructed and arranged to be received in the elliptical recess so as to control endplay of the shaft.

    摘要: A tool is provided for removing a component from a fuel rail in an automotive fuel system. The tool has a pair of jaws connected to a pair of pivoting handles, which allow the jaws to be opened and closed. The jaws have an inner cavity shaped to conform to an outer surface of the component. A pair of release members are slidably mounted on an outer surface of the jaws. When the release members are moved relative to the jaws, rims on the release members contact a retention clip holding the component to the fuel rail. Contact between the rims and the clip causes the clip to disengage from a retention surface on the fuel rail, freeing the component.
