Abstract:
A removable filter for separating and filtering slurry liquid from solid particles includes one or more filter sections connected by a filtrate conduit. Each section comprises a plurality of vertical, hollow, sintered metal filter elements horizontally arranged across a manifold connected to a hollow filtrate conduit. The sections are vertically stacked and connected by the conduit(s) to form the filter which is removably secured in the slurry by means which permit it to be removed vertically up and out of the top of the reactor. This filter has a high surface area to volume ratio and is useful for removing the liquid hydrocarbon products from a slurry hydrocarbon synthesis reactor and can easily be replaced without having to drain out the slurry.

Abstract:
A filter-heat exchanger includes a plurality of hollow wires arranged in parallel with a slit of a predetermined width formed between adjacent hollow wires. The hollow wires each have an inlet and an outlet for a heating/cooling fluid whereby the heating/cooling fluid flows through the hollow wires and fluid to be filtered flows through the slits from one side of the parallelly arranged hollow wires to the other side of thereof. The filter-heat exchanger can accomplish filtering and heat exchanging processes simultaneously in a single step.
Abstract:
A filtering device includes a container having an inlet for introducing liquid to be treated, an annular multi-layered prepacked screen assembly provided in the container and having an outlet for treated liquid. The screen assembly includes three or more cylindrical screens having different diameters and bieng coazially disposed in the container with their axes extending vertically in the container. An anulus is formed between the respective cyldinrical screens. Two or more different filter materials performing different filtering functions are filled one in each of the annuluses between the cylindrical screens.
Abstract:
A method of testing the integrity of a filter element in a falter assembly includes a) wetting filter material of a filter element having an inlet side and an outlet side connected to an outlet conduit, b) subjecting the inlet side of the filter element to a gas pressure, c) measuring the pressure in the outlet conduit as a function of time, with a downstream outlet valve for the outlet conduit being closed, and d) determining whether the pressure measured at a preselected time exceeds a reference pressure by a predetermined amount, or determining whether the time required to reach a preselected pressure is shorter than a reference time by a predetermined amount.
Abstract:
A filtering apparatus includes a filter vessel having an inlet and an outlet for fluid. A tube sheet is disposed within the filter vessel and separates the inlet from the outlet. A plurality of elongated filter elements extend nonvertically from the tube sheet, each filter element having a first end and a second end farther from the tube sheet than the first end and being at a different height than the first end.
Abstract:
An arrangement for fastening filter candles and filter apparatus provided therewith includes a collecting pipe which is composed of several T-shaped pipe pieces. Each of the pipe pieces has a substantially horizontal portion and extending therefrom a second portion which has a free end part provided with a groove. Each of the filter candles has an upper part provided with a flange portion which is engageable into the groove to obtain a tight attachment of the filter candle to the collecting pipe.
Abstract:
In a pressure filter for liquid media a plurality of filter elements is supported by a removable hollow cross bar which, when the filter tank is opened, can be removed together with all or groups of the filter elements. The filter element has a flexible filter wall and preferably an outer fine meshed wall and an inner coarse meshed wall.Between the two wall portions a packing material is arranged. Preferably the entire filter element is a flexible tube element. Spray tubes are arranged in the filter tank which are also removable together with their supporting carrier member. The spray elements serve to rinse out the filter cake. This may be done by passing the rinsing agent agent successively at spaced time periods through individual groups of the filter elements.
Abstract:
The filtration plant consists of a series of filter units, each comprising a filter bowl containing a tubular filter element. The filter bowl is connected to a water inlet header while the interior of the filter element is connected to a clean water outlet header by way of valve connections. The filter bowl is also valve connected to a drain to permit backwashing. A perforated tube mounted in the center of the filter element which serves to collect clean water during filtering and to provide an even distribution of backwash water on the filter element during backwashing.
